People Like Us (PLUS) Kolkata

People Like Us (PLUS) Kolkata is a community organisation founded in 2003 that works mainly with transgender people and the wider LGBTQ+ community in West Bengal. Its programmes include a shelter home for trans people, HIV prevention and health services, and livelihood and skills support. It also does advocacy and community events. It operates from an office on Banamali Banerjee Road, and visits should be arranged through the website first. India decriminalised same-sex relations in 2018, but social stigma remains strong, especially for trans people, which is the gap groups like PLUS work in.
