Varta Trust

Varta Trust is a Kolkata organisation that works on gender and sexuality through publishing, research, advocacy and community services. It publishes the Varta webzine, keeps a directory of queer-friendly service providers, and holds the archive of Counsel Club, one of India's earliest queer support groups, which was active in Kolkata in the 1990s. It is useful to visitors mainly as a source of information, such as finding queer-friendly doctors or counsellors in the city. We have no public drop-in address, so start with vartagensex.org.
