關於此地 Sappho for Equality

Sappho for Equality is a Kolkata rights organisation that works mainly with lesbian, bisexual and trans women and with trans men. It grew out of Sappho, a support group started in 1999, and was registered in 2003. From its office on Rajdanga Main Road in Kasba it runs a helpline, peer counselling, legal aid, research and advocacy. It also co-organises Bioscopia (formerly Dialogues), Kolkata's queer film and arts festival. It is an organisation rather than a social venue, so call or email through sapphokolkata.in before visiting.

A safe space for queer-trans individuals is something rare to find and come across. Sappho's space offer the warmth needed for the community. I am deeply involved and work in this space since 2015 and can vouch for its honesty and ethical practices.
