VERA

VERA calls itself the Club for the International Pop Underground. It has been Groningen's main indie, punk and alternative venue for decades, on Oosterstraat in the city centre, and is run largely by volunteers. Most of the calendar is gigs and club nights for a mixed student and music crowd. It is not a gay venue. The queer reason to go is Queerclub VERA, a recurring party organised by the venue's inclusion group, plus a Queerclub Kelder night in the basement during Groningen Pride week. Check the agenda on the website for dates, as the queer nights are not weekly.
