LGBTQ+ 法律地位
合法但社會氛圍保守

Gdańsk's modern LGBTQ+ community started to appear in the 1990s, after Poland left communism. Technically, homosexuality was legal under communist rule, but society condemned it. Visible gay spaces really began to develop in the 2000s, once Poland joined the EU and things loosened up. Today, Gdańsk has one of Poland's more established regional LGBTQ+ scenes. It's still much smaller than Warsaw's, but locals are particularly friendly to international visitors.

The Old Town (Stare Miasto) is where most LGBTQ+-friendly spots are. It's a UNESCO-listed district, full of colorful merchant houses, the Marienkirche, and the Motława riverside promenade. It's busy all year, especially in summer. Długa Street cuts through the Old Town, with restaurants, shops, and some bars. The Gdańsk Shipyard area is another important historical neighborhood, but it's not really a focus for LGBTQ+ tourism. The city center, around the Main Town Hall, is very walkable. Westerplatte, to the north, is where World War II began for Poland; you can get there by tram. Most visitors stay in or near the Old Town.

Gdańsk's gay scene is small. After several places closed, there's no dedicated gay bar in the city anymore — the Tri-City's older gay clubs, including the well-known HAH in Sopot, shut down in 2023. Now, the main spot is Joy Club in Sopot (ul. Armii Krajowej), a dedicated LGBTQ+ nightclub about a 20-minute SKM train ride away. They do drag shows, karaoke, and themed weekend parties. In Gdańsk itself, Pub Red Light in the Old Town is the most reliably gay-friendly spot; it's a cozy pub listed in Polish LGBTQ+ directories. Beyond that, the Old Town's cafés and cocktail bars are broadly welcoming, not explicitly gay.

There isn't a dedicated gay sauna in Gdańsk or the wider Tri-City. The closest ones are in Poznań (Amigo) and Warsaw. For open-air cruising, the naturist section of Plaża Stogi beach is the long-standing gay-friendly spot in summer. It's to the right of the main entrance, by the dunes and pine forest. Go during the day, use common sense, and be discreet. Many travelers also use Grindr and Hornet to meet people and find out about local events or private gatherings.

Café culture is big in Gdańsk. Many coffeehouses and casual bars in the Old Town are LGBTQ+ friendly and popular meeting spots, even if they don't market themselves as gay. You'll find plenty along the riverside and main streets.

The Tri-City Equality March (Trójmiejski Marsz Równości) is the main LGBTQ+ event, held in early June. Recent ones were on June 7, 2025, and June 6, 2026. Organised by Tolerado, a Gdańsk association, it draws thousands and marches through central Gdańsk, usually from the Plac Świętopełka / Szeroka area towards the historic Gdańsk Shipyard. There's also a "Miasteczko Marszowe" festival village. The mayors of Gdańsk (since 2017) and Sopot (since 2019) have supported it. It's smaller than Warsaw Pride, but it shows Gdańsk is one of Poland's more progressive cities. Dates and size change yearly, so check before you book. The mood is generally celebratory but also politically aware, with people pushing for equal rights for LGBTQ+ people in Poland.

The Old Town is the most convenient place to stay for LGBTQ+ travelers, with many hotels and guesthouses. Plenty of them are LGBTQ+-friendly and advertise on booking sites. The riverfront near the Motława has nice places to stay and is walkable to restaurants and bars. Mid-range and budget options are available throughout the Old Town. If you want a more residential feel, the Oliwa district to the north is quieter. It's near the Oliwa Cathedral and park, though it's less central for nightlife. Trams get you there easily.

Gdańsk is generally one of Poland's more liberal cities. LGBTQ+ travelers usually feel comfortable and welcome, especially in the Old Town and among younger residents. Public displays of affection between same-sex couples should be handled with standard discretion, like in many European cities. The city center is safe, but normal urban precautions apply. LGBTQ+ rights are still a political fight in Poland; the country has no civil-partnership or marriage law, and a 2025 partnership bill was vetoed by the President in 2026. But Gdańsk itself, a historically progressive city with a strong civil society, is noticeably more accepting than other parts of Poland. The local LGBTQ+ community is outspoken and organized, which helps make the scene visible and relatively secure.

Gdańsk has an efficient public transit system with trams and buses (ZTM Gdańsk). A single ticket costs about 3 PLN (€0.70). Day and multi-day passes are available and cheap for tourists. The Old Town is compact and very walkable; most attractions are within 20-30 minutes on foot. The city is well-connected by train, with Gdańsk Główny station serving as a hub for connections to Warsaw (3-4 hours), Kraków, other Polish cities, and international routes. The airport (Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport) is about 12 km from the city center; trains, buses, or taxis get you there in 20-30 minutes.

Gdańsk has great seafood and traditional Polish food, thanks to its Baltic location. Restaurants throughout the Old Town serve local specialties like smoked fish, herring, and pierogi. Many places are LGBTQ+-friendly. Casual milk bars (bar mleczny) offer cheap, traditional Polish food. The riverside has many restaurants, both local and international. Cafés are a big part of Gdańsk culture. From traditional coffee houses to modern hipster spots, they're great for people-watching and meeting up.

Beyond the LGBTQ+ scene, Gdańsk has plenty to see. The European Solidarity Centre, a striking modern building, tells the story of the Solidarity movement and Poland's democracy. The Amber Museum shows off the region's Baltic amber. The National Museum in Gdańsk holds important Polish art and artifacts. St. Mary's Church (Marienkirche) is one of Europe's largest brick churches; you can climb its tower for city views. The waterfront itself is a major draw, with those characteristic merchant houses reflected in the Motława River, making for classic photos. Summer brings outdoor markets, concerts, and cultural events all over the Old Town.

Gdańsk is part of the Tri-City metropolitan area (Trójmiasto), which includes Gdynia and Sopot. Sopot, about 12 km north, is a beach resort town with a famous pier (molo). It's easy to get to by regional train. It has its own smaller LGBTQ+ scene and is popular for summer day trips. Gdynia, to the east, is a modern port city with an interesting maritime history. The Kashubian region south of Gdańsk offers rural Polish culture and nature. Malbork Castle, a huge medieval fortress, is about 40 km south and reachable by train.

Poland uses the Polish Zloty (PLN). ATMs are common. Most tourist-area places take cards, but some smaller spots prefer cash. Many younger people and tourist businesses speak English. The best time to visit is May through September; summer is warmest but busiest. Spring and fall have nice weather and fewer crowds. Winters are cold and gray, but less crowded. The Gdańsk Equality Parade in summer is a good time to visit if you want an event, though the city will be busy. Poland is part of the EU and Schengen Area. Citizens of EU/EEA countries and many others can enter visa-free for up to 90 days with a valid passport. Non-EU citizens should check current requirements well in advance.

該遊行由當地組織 Tolerado(tolerado.org)主辦。
