Bob & Barbara's sits at 1509 South Street, just west of Broad, functioning as a mainstream dive bar rather than a dedicated gay spot. It’s gay-friendly, sure, but the room is a real mix: regulars, students, and anyone else hunting for cheap drinks. The house special is a can of PBR with a shot of whiskey. Neon beer signs and wood panelling fill the space, usually accompanied by live jazz. The Thursday drag show has been running for years, making it one of the longest-standing in Philadelphia. It draws a large LGBTQ+ crowd, with performances scheduled through December 2026. Google says it’s open daily from 16:00 to 02:00. If you want to head to the Gayborhood, it’s roughly a 15-minute walk north-east.

Cool spot to stop in for a cheap PBR and shot deal! Depending on what night you stop in, there may be a jazz band blowing the doors off the place and cool vibes. For food, hit up the window next door for some good hot dogs!
