關於此地 Marshall's Beach

Marshall's Beach is a narrow, clothing-optional strip of sand below the Presidio bluffs, almost directly under the Golden Gate Bridge, and a long-standing spot for San Francisco's gay beachgoers. It is reached by the Batteries to Bluffs Trail, a steep descent with plenty of steps, which keeps the numbers down. The gay and nude crowd tends to gather towards the rocks at the northern end, with the bridge overhead. Go on a sunny afternoon at low tide. There are no lifeguards, the water is cold with strong currents, and high tide swallows most of the beach, so check tide tables first. Wear proper shoes for the trail, bring water and sunscreen, and pack out what you bring in.

Secluded beach. The hike down is probably what keeps much ppl from exploring. The trail is maintained. There were 4 people down at the beach when we visited. Quite a hike coming back up but worth it

The coolest place I visited in San Francisco. I wasn’t sure what to think beforehand but was amazing. The hike looks worse than what it is also.

With a few spots in the area available, their best move physically is to bring something in. Mostly because they're going for my 3 shirts. Anyhow, it's hot, ad I'm about to go to bed. Almost knocked out, with the phone, in my hands. I'll just say it was like a book, testing my diaphram for strength. In order to belt!

Great spot for checking out the golden gate bridge while having some beach fun. There is a short but steep hike to get here. Going down is easy but on the way up it can be a bit challenging. Worth it.

Amazing place to visit in San Francisco! The path to the beach is rough and a lot of steps but it is still definetely worth visiting. Make sure you capture the best photos through the rocks to the bridge!

Marshall's Beach was one of the places that surprised me most in San Francisco. What impressed me most was its incredible proximity to the Golden Gate Bridge, which looks enormous and spectacular from there. The contrast between the beach, the waves, the cliffs, and the famous bridge creates one of the most photogenic landscapes in the city. Furthermore, since it's not as crowded as other viewpoints, it allows you to enjoy the surroundings more peacefully. It's a perfect spot to contemplate the bay, take incredible photographs, and see the Golden Gate Bridge from a unique perspective.

This location offers incredible vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's one of my favorite areas to hike around in the city, featuring a few peaceful trails that aren't on the typical tourist radar. It's a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle. My sons really enjoyed wandering and exploring the area. It's absolutely a spot worth visiting.

Great view, very nice hike, and some birds: cormorants, raptors, and an oystercatcher! Few people in the early afternoon, probably more later...

As it requires some effort to reach, this is a secluded beach offering scenic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. It can be reached by hiking along the Battery to Bluffs Trail at the Presidio of San Francisco. This trail is off the main trail known as the California Coastal trail. You will need to leave the trail and descend down a staircase before reaching the shore. However, once here, the scene is pretty spectacular with waves crashing in on the rock-strewn beach with great views of the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. Definitely worth the effort to get here and it was my favorite part of the hike that began at the Golden Gate Welcome Center and ended at Baker's Beach. We were the only ones on the beach that Saturday afternoon. Although it was sunny, it was cool and windy. Warmer weather may bring out more beach goers I suspect.

This is a calm beach with a unique angle and close overlook or viewpoint for the Golden Gate. It is neither the only overlook viewpoint nor the best one. A resident person or a repeater visitor would have a better recommendation for an overlook viewpoint.

This was a beautiful beach to take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge. We had a hard time finding parking and it was about a mile walk down a rocky trail but worth it. We read how amazing it was online but the one thing I wish I would’ve known is if you pass the rocks on the beach close to the bridge, it becomes a nude beach. Just good info to know when making plans and if you’re with kids.

This is an absolute gem of a beach! Tough to get to, but well worth the hike to get that type of view of the bridge and the ocean. The sand is soft. Very secluded too on most days.

The closet sand beach to Golden Gate Bridge. With rocks and crashing waves and tides make this a must see in San Francisco. Where you get a close up view of the entire Golden Gate Bridge. Take bluff trials fro either Golden Gate Bridge heading south or from baker beach heading north past the sand ladder and follow the signs for Marshall beach. Once you get there you have two paths; the one on the right lead you to small sandy beach area with clear view of GGB. The one on the left lead you to more secluded Rock beach which has a perfect angle to see sunset in a clear day. You can take Muni bus 28 (to GGB)!or Muni bus 29 (Baker Beach). Both about 20 minutes to get you all the way dine to the beach area. Try to wear sneakers or hiking shoes since there is a lot of steep steps. Thus hidden beach is a hidden gem and must see. ruhungrytientien

Lots of stairs, but worth to visit on a sunny day just to take some rays in, walk and enjoy. You will most likely encounter some interesting characters... and above all offers fantastic views of golden gate on good visibility day. Loved it AK

It took about 25 minutes to get down to the Beach from the main parking area but the views of the Golden Gate Bridge were amazing and at sunset we saw huge numbers of Pelicans flying home to roost.

We spent the day at Marshall's Beach, this is a great secluded beach next to the Golden Gate Bridge. The view of the bridge is awesome. Access to the beach is via steps and a path to the beach but well worth it when you get there.

the beach at Marshall's Beach is a little hard to get to - about a mile of descent via sloping paths and staircases. It's worth it, as the views are stunning. This is a nude-option beach, with a somewhat separated gay side past the big rocks at the far (eastern) end of the main part of the beach. It isn't warm and sunny very often at this beach, but when it is, the place is nothing short of spectacular.
