Charles and Nick! You MADE my evening - THANK YOU! First queer bar stop on my DC visit and I fear the bar has been exceeded! The Spicy Boy cocktail is very good and would highly recommend if you enjoy unconventional cocktails. The energy here is welcoming. The service is excellent. I could not recommend this place more!

★★★★★ I was visiting from Alabama for work, and tonight I did something I never thought I would have the courage to do. This was my first time ever walking into an LGBTQ+ space. I sat outside for several minutes wondering if I belonged and whether I should just turn around and leave. Instead, I took a deep breath and walked in. What I found wasn’t what my anxious mind had imagined. I found kind staff, welcoming smiles, and a room full of ordinary people talking, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. It reminded me that this community isn’t some mysterious “other” place—it is simply people. The music and videos weren’t exactly my personal style, but every place has its own personality. What mattered most was how accepted I felt. The barista was incredibly friendly and made a nervous first-time visitor feel genuinely welcome. That simple kindness meant more than he’ll probably ever know. I left realizing that the hardest part wasn’t walking through the door—it was believing I deserved to. Thank you for giving a guy visiting from Alabama a place where, for the first time, he felt like maybe there was room for him too.

Cannot express how grateful I am for the staff at Spark Social. Melinda saw our group of friends walk out of a bar next door carrying a friend who was clearly in need of help. She was quick to offer a place for him to sit down, grabbed us cold towels and ice to cool him off, and jumped into action to check his pulse and pupils. Other Spark Social staff quickly retrieved Narcan in the event it was needed and were calm, cool, collected, and eager to help. Spark Social is setting the standard for what security at bars across the city should be doing — Trained in harm prevention and ready to step in to deescalate and ensure the safety of their patrons, rather than working to quickly escort them out of the bar and leaving them to their own demise on the street. I cannot express the gratitude we have for Melinda and the entire team at Spark Social!!

I’ve always liked Spark Social but I will be a loyal patron all thanks to Malinda who works the door. She is an angel and demonstrates above and beyond customer service. Our friend was too drunk from being at another bar and she sat him down, took care of him, and was instrumental in making sure he got home safe. Kudos and huge thanks to Malinda.

There was this bartender named Mike who made the best mocktails I've ever had. 10/10 will go again solely because of him.

Came here to grab a drink after looking up places. I was completely put off immediately. The lady at the door checking ID was semi-drunk and slurring (can’t tell if she was staff or not, because it is extremely unprofessional to be drinking and slurring while you’re supposed to be working the door. What is there’s an emergency?). Once inside, the bartenders have no notice or care to patrons walking in, they were too busy taking selfies and chatting with each other. After going up to finally grab a menu from the bar, I placed an order for a drink. The drink took a while. Again, no kind service or friendly conversation from the bartenders at all, they looked annoyed and wanting to go back to their selfies and gossip session with each other. After paying for my drinks, the bartender took it among himself to tip himself, without even asking me. Nowhere on the menu or at the register did it say tip is included, this bartender took it upon himself to tip himself, which infuriated me (you didn’t even bother to acknowledge any of your patrons coming in, you were not friendly at all, and had the absolute gall and audacity to tip yourself?). I will not be retuning to this hot mess of a place.
