The hotel was nice and very clean, but the reception staff were really unpleasant, which is a shame.
I spent three nights at the Grand Lancaster in July 2026. The rooms are spacious and clean. But it's really the service that sets the hotel apart. The staff is friendly and welcoming. My luggage was lost and arrived the next day, and the hotel helped me retrieve it by calling the airport and arranging a shuttle and driver (David, who was very friendly, by the way) at no extra charge. They also accommodated my late departure by letting me keep my room a little longer. The only slight drawback is that the cardio equipment (treadmill and stationary bike) in the gym is a bit outdated and could use an update. But I would definitely return to the Grand Lancaster and I recommend it.
I had a wonderful afternoon by the pool with my friends; the setting is lovely. The lifeguard was very patient with me and my terrible swimming arms (of course 😅😅).
For me, the hotel's charm lies entirely in its grounds. Lush and verdant, they offer a peaceful retreat, perfectly reflecting the city's reputation for being green. There's plenty of space to wander around, almost forgetting you're in a hotel. A majestic tree stands proudly in the middle of the courtyard, creating a view that's hard to find elsewhere. I also appreciated the separate area dedicated to wellness and recreation. The building housing the spa, casino, and gym is separate. Even though I didn't use it once during my stay, it still gave me the feeling of stepping outside the hotel to unwind, instead of having everything within the same building. There's also the pool and barbecue area at the back, which I found beautiful and very relaxing. It was quite busy, as people came to watch the games. And I even got to watch a wedding remotely, which took place outdoors, which I also found interesting. But I didn't really like the rooms. And I think the hotel management would benefit from putting a bit more emphasis on maintaining the premises. Another thing that bothered us all during our stay was the air conditioning. It was freezing in that hotel! For me, the air conditioning was a mystery. You could turn it off for two days, and it still felt like you were sleeping on snow. And the cleaning staff kept turning it back on, relentlessly. When you came back to your room, the cold was the first thing that greeted you. This really got me down after the two weeks we spent at the hotel. Another thing I liked less was the food. But I've already discussed that in the relevant section. I left this hotel with rather mixed feelings. As a result, I find it difficult to give a final opinion. I'll leave it to each person to form their own experience.
