I absolutely love this huge lawn and the enormous trees! Having such a massive park in a city like this is truly a blessing for the people!
Amazing place and great museum!
Well managed park within walking distance from the CDB. Plenty of matured trees make it calming to be with.
Always well worth a visit. Exhibits are so interesting.
The Auckland Museum and it's surrounding areas are exceptionally joyful. There are many sport events happening, amazing spots for family picnics, and walkways through beautiful well maintained gardens and trees. A pond, lots of wildlife, a pond, lots of carparks (when there is no event on). Tourism buses can clog up the facilities and spaces. The outside toilets are due for a renovation. I think they need more regular cleaning at least on the busy days. I didnt see any mother and baby room, nor child sized toilets resulting in them using adult toilets and leaving behind a mess. Parents should check. The museum building is very special, historical, and maintained well. The outside perimeter of the building is laced with security cameras. Cars parked right up the top near the Museum are much safer than parking further down the hill. Exhibitions are listed online and there are many genuine pieces of art, wearables, and other items that are important for acknowledging, learning, and protecting NZ's history. I must admit that I haven't been inside for a few years. However, I recall standard long term displays, paintings, Maori art, etc. The exhibitions and short term displays are awesome though. The days before and during colonization are displayed demonstrating the lifestyle led all those years ago.
A must visit 😀 for 'tourists' and easy enough to visit a few times if you a local 👍 so much to enjoy
This is a large park located about 20 minutes from the city center. It includes a botanical garden, a museum, a grassy area, and even a cafe!
This museum is a must-see. I recommend spending a whole day there to see everything at a relaxed pace.
All the staff were amazing offering my mum who was in a wheelchair assistance everywhere. We used the mobility park at front of building. One recommendation is that the exit signs are changed so you know which entrance you are exiting. We found it difficult to find our way to the right entrance so ended up walking around the building which was not ideal.
A beautiful park with a wide range of flowering gardens along art pieces. The timing of our trip allowed for an encounter with with baby ducklings.
It's a spacious area, and people with dogs are generally well-behaved.
A surprise in the middle of the city. Lovely scenery combined with the winter garden makes for a pleasant walk. A bit hilly at times but nothing too significant. We did a loop down Parnell road. Nice way to spend an afternoon.
It's such a beautiful park with the local ducks to greet us. Children admired the paths leading to the ponds full of ducks, even the ones going for a walk too. Perfect place for picnics and to stroll around at your own pace. Lots of areas or benches to sit at and to soak in the atmosphere. At times, it is really difficult to get a car park, but when you do have snacks and water ready. There is an eatery close by if wanting to grab a bite and to view the park in the open space or visit the domain winterland thats a bonus as its next door and walk to the museum is close by too. Public toilets are handy as well. We will visit again.
A spacious and peaceful park perfect for long walks, picnics or simply relaxing among tall trees. A great escape from the busy city streets.
Walked around here whilst we were staying in the city. A lovely park with plenty to see and nice paths. Lovely cricket ground. Good little cafe as well that did excellent breakfasts and cakes.
This is a beautiful, lovely, lively city. Very walkable and very interesting. We enjoyed the museums and shops, walked the waterfront as well as the city.
Loved the day we spent here...even got a little lost and didn't mind at all. The cafe in Wintergarden is delightful with seating outside next to the pond. We are walkers so it was a treasure. Took the bus here and back to our hotel. Great value and experience!
We had an enjoyable time exploring the park and walking around the pond. There were lots of ducks and we also saw some eels. There are nice big trees and paths.
Nice place to spend a day and a very big area to walk around looking at the trees, flowers and all during good weather conditions
Absolute love the park 😊 10 min bus ride from Auckland CBD . Park houses war museum and winter garden . Park has so much to offer to both, locals and tourists, regardless of the time of the year. Whether you are a museum and history lover, botanical and animal lover, or prefer activities like walking, running or playing rugby, you will find fun in this massive park. On-site restaurant also one in museum . Plenty to do . You can spend easily few hours !
I only went in here while the rest of my tour group were at the nearby War Museum. What a surprise. Jam packed with beautiful flowers and plants all very well laid out in stunning displays. I particularly enjoyed the fernery area. Hadn't realised you got so many varieties and they grew to such massive proportions. Since it is a national emblem of NZ it is only right to see this place if you can. Our bus drive took me back downtown but staff advised there are local buses or you can walk the distance if a nice day. Definitely recommend it for a visit. Delightful to see such bursts of joyful colour whilst on your travels. Was also not crowded when I was there so very tranquil.
