Briar Patch is a gay bar at 508 North Stanton Street in downtown El Paso, in the small cluster of LGBTQ bars around what locals call Pride Square. It is a dedicated gay venue with a local, mostly regular crowd. Expect a neighbourhood-bar feel rather than a big club night. El Paso's gay scene is compact, and people often move between the nearby bars over a night out, so it is easy to combine with the others on the block. The Google rating is 3.6 from about 120 reviews. So I went here for the first time last night. I will say, first and foremost, I love the atmosphere here and we had fun. But the guy behind the bar was extremely rude with my friends and I. We would order drinks and he would just nod his head and it felt like we were bothering him. Then a few times, he didnt give us our drinks and was just on his phone. So we ended up having to ask him multiple times basically reminding him that we had ordered some drinks. Then when we asked for the tab, he didnt provide us with a receipt and just told us the amount. I would love to return to this place but I do not want to be served by him again. Unfortunately I did not catch his name.
