Give to the Max Day with Quatrefoil Library
November 19
Quatrefoil Library is celebrating its 40th Birthday this year. That is four decades of volunteers stewarding consistent access to stories, histories, and connections, all made by, for, and about the LGBTQIA+ community. Starting from 1,300 materials in circulation in 1986, our librarians have now curated a collection of over 26,000 unique items, and we have no plans of stopping there.
Censorship has been and continues to be a threat to our community, and Quatrefoil Library is meeting the need as more people are looking for access to free digital and physical spaces where they can go without fear of judgement, censorship, or the need to hide who they are. Just since January 1st of this year, the Library has welcomed an unprecedented 7,000 new card-carrying members from across Minnesota, the United States, and now, the world. All of this is possible because of the tireless hard work and enthusiasm of our many volunteers, but also because of the decades of love and trust that our supporters have built and shared under the name Quatrefoil Library.
We are growing: in size, reach, and experience. To keep this momentum going, to honor the legacy passed on by all who came before us, to protect the access and experience of our longtime supporters, and to meet the needs of our new members and of all the people who haven’t found us yet, we need your support. Please consider donating to Quatrefoil this Give to the Max Day to help us celebrate the past four decades of community access and to help us prepare for the decades to come. https://www.givemn.org/organization/Quatrefoil-Library

Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge the Dakota and Ojibwe people on whose land we meet. We thank them and their relatives for their care of the land, and we recognize their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures, and to elders both past and present. This acknowledgement is both important, and not enough. We continue to move from acknowledgment to action, by adopting practices and organizational priorities that support decolonization of ourselves and the broader climate and environmental movement. About the venue
Quatrefoil Library is a free LGBTQ+ lending library, founded in 1983 and named after James Barr's 1950 novel Quatrefoil. It is now on East Lake Street in Minneapolis and holds a large collection of books, periodicals, films and archival material by and about queer people…
“I go here for a local craft club and it's always tons of fun. They have a parking lot out back, which I didn't know about until recently. This library is located on the first floor of an apartment building and has a ramp for wheelchair accessibility.” — A Caldwell, Google
“Wonderful LGBT library full of LGBT books and dvds. Archives of periodicals freely accessible. Hosts lots of queer events.” — Ben Burns, Google
