About this place The Court Hotel

The Court Hotel has been the cornerstone of Perth's LGBTQ+ nightlife since 1995 and stands as one of the most complete gay venue complexes in Australia. Built across multiple levels on Beaufort Street in Northbridge, The Court is not simply a bar but an entertainment precinct: the rooftop bar offers views across Perth's city skyline and is one of the best outdoor drinking spaces in the city; the main bar level runs DJ nights and themed events throughout the week; the nightclub spaces host circuit nights and visiting DJs; and the cabaret room has hosted some of Australia's most celebrated drag performers over three decades of operation. The Court's drag programming is its most celebrated cultural contribution. Perth has produced a number of nationally recognised drag artists, and The Court has been both training ground and showcase for many of them. The weekly drag shows draw audiences who have been attending for years alongside first-timers; the production values are consistently high, and the relationship between performers and the audience has the warmth of a genuine community institution rather than a tourist attraction. The Hotel's position on Beaufort Street in Northbridge means it is embedded in Perth's entertainment district — walking distance from restaurants, cafés, and other nightlife, and well-served by late-night transport. During Perth PrideFEST in November, The Court becomes the command centre of the city's LGBTQ+ celebration, running extended programming and hosting visiting performers and community events. For any LGBTQ+ visitor to Perth, The Court Hotel is the non-negotiable starting point — the venue that best explains what Perth's gay community has built in its geographical isolation and why that community is so proud of what it has created.

What a fun place! We were there early on a Wednesday around 7.30 and there were only four of us in the place. However, it gradually filled up in the back courtyard as time for the first drag acts drew near. I was quite impressed by the sound and light system and the DJ and tech kept things pumping along nicely. We ordered the fish tacos and chicken tacos which we really enjoyed , as well as a pepperoni "Lady Gaga" pizza which had a tasty thing crust but suffered from being over-cheesed, making it a bit too greasy to finish. Less is more! Overall a great night out!

I had high hopes for the 90s brunch at The Court House, especially with the $83 price tag. The atmosphere was fun and nostalgic, and the music was definitely a highlight—it really set the tone and brought back some great memories. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite match the experience. We were a group of about ten, and every plate arrived cold. My avocado on toast with egg tasted more like it had just come from the fridge rather than being freshly made. For the price, I was expecting something a bit more special and enjoyable. Drinks were also a challenge, as each time we wanted one we found ourselves queuing for quite a while, which took away from the relaxed brunch vibe. Overall, while I did enjoy the music and lively atmosphere, the food and service left me feeling underwhelmed, especially given the cost.

Absolutely love the court! Had the best time at the anniversary of drag factory watching some hilarious jelly wrestling. Shout out to all the court team for keeping drag factory going but especially Athan for how amazing he serviced me that night!!

I love love love the court! Every time I come here it’s such a vibe. The music always hits, and I end up having the best night. The staff are super lovely too!! Huge shoutout to one of the crew, Elias, for being an absolute legend. Such good energy, so friendly, and honestly kept the vibes going all night. Massive thanks to him for making the night even better!! Definitely recommend, never a bad time here 🩷

Purchased Halloween tickets online for The Court. The tickets did not display any entry time restrictions. We arrived at 8pm and were informed at the door that the tickets were only valid between a certain time (remember it being a ridiculous time like 4pm - 7pm - so much for a 'party'). We were told we would need to pay again to enter. This information was not disclosed at the point of sale. Referencing an Instagram post does not meet basic standards of consumer disclosure. If a ticket is time-restricted, that restriction must be clearly stated before purchase. Advance tickets were also more expensive than door entry, making the product objectively worse than buying on the night. Five people therefore paid approximately $40 each for tickets that were unusable unless additional payment was made. This is a failure of transparent pricing and clear terms and does not align with reasonable consumer expectations. Buyers should be cautious! Don't buy tickets from here!
