About this place Grand Pacific Hotel Suva

The Grand Pacific Hotel is Suva's most iconic accommodation and the obvious choice for LGBTQ+ travelers visiting the Fijian capital. The hotel has a storied history — opened in 1914, it was for decades the premier address in the South Pacific, hosting royalty and heads of state. Following a comprehensive restoration, it operates today as a five-star property combining colonial-era grandeur with contemporary comforts. The waterfront location on Victoria Parade gives guests both a beautiful outlook over Suva Harbour and an ideal position within walking distance of the city's restaurants, bars, and the nightlife strip. For LGBTQ+ travelers, the Grand Pacific offers the peace of mind that comes with a properly international luxury hotel in a city that already has Fiji's constitutional anti-discrimination framework behind it. Staff are trained to international standards and handle all guests, including same-sex couples, with professional warmth. The hotel's bar and restaurant are popular gathering spots for Suva's business and diplomatic community, providing an animated social environment within the property itself. The pool area is a particularly pleasant option for daytime relaxation. Suva's proximity to the hotel means guests can easily access the city's LGBTQ+-friendly venues — The Barn nightclub is a short taxi or walk away — while returning to the security and comfort of a property that sets the tone for LGBTQ+ travel in the Pacific islands. The Grand Pacific is the standout accommodation recommendation for LGBTQ+ travelers to Suva and a symbol of how far Fiji has come as a destination for the community.

we had a birthday dinner here for a friend’s 21st birthday. the service was wonderful, the food was amazing & our server specifically, Sailasa, is 5 stars alone. it’s bougie but it’s worth the experience.

The Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva is a famous historic hotel. It opened on 23 May 1914 to serve passengers of the Union Steamship Company. The hotel was built on land reclaimed from Suva Harbour. Over the years, it became known as the "Grand Old Lady" of the South Pacific and welcomed many famous guests, including Queen Elizabeth II, aviator Charles Kingsford Smith, and writers like Somerset Maugham. The hotel closed in 1992 and fell into poor condition, but it was fully restored and reopened in 2014 for its 100th anniversary. Today, it is managed by IHG and is a five star property. It has around 120 rooms, several restaurants and bars, a pool, a spa, and a gym. It is located on Victoria Parade with a waterfront view, close to the Fiji Museum and the Presidential Palace. The friendly Fijian staff, the historic atmosphere, and the beautiful sunset views is truly appreciated. However, the food is expensive and the service can be bit slow. Even with these small problems, it is a must stay place in Suva because of its history, charm, and location.

Our stay was great in all areas...I would like to make special mention of the breakfast buffet which was very good but was greatly enhanced by the personal attention and service provided by Rozy since we had 2 young ones with us.
