About this place Eden Jerusalem Hotel

The Eden Jerusalem Hotel is a relaxed, gay-friendly base for LGBTQ+ travelers in Jerusalem.

You’ll find it in Talpiyot, set in older gardens. From here, it’s about three kilometers to the Western Wall, and the Old City is within five kilometers. It’s a casual place, good for anyone wanting to see Jerusalem while staying somewhere explicitly welcoming to gay travelers.

Rooms are bright and unfussy, many with garden views. They come with satellite TV and kitchenettes, which are handy if you’re staying a while or like making your own meals. Some rooms also have balconies. Parking and breakfast in the dining room are free. There’s a lobby lounge and a terrace, good for relaxing or meeting people.

It’s a comfortable, judgment-free place to stay in a city with heavy religious and historical significance. The casual feel and garden setting give you a quiet spot to return to after walking through Jerusalem’s streets and sacred sites. It’s a practical choice, whether you’re there for leisure, spirituality, culture, or community.

Location is fantastic, but unfortunately that is the only positive aspect. Due to a border closure, we could not arrive as planned. I only stayed one night out of the three nights already paid for. Instead of being able to check in on 26/12, I ended up checking in on 28/12. I contacted the owner well in advance on two separate occasions to request a change of dates, as Booking.com did not allow any modifications: • on 25/12 (more than 24 hours before the original check-in), and • again on Saturday morning, 27/12, when I clearly informed him that we would not be able to cross the border until Sunday morning, giving him sufficient time to release the room and accept other bookings. The owner acknowledged these messages and agreed via WhatsApp, so I acted in good faith believing everything was settled. On 29 December at around 11:30 a.m., the owner knocked on my door without prior notice, saying he needed to fix something in the bathroom. When I explained that my husband was showering, he left visibly upset but did not inform me that I was required to check out. Later that day, after I had already left the accommodation to explore the city, I received a message telling me I had to leave immediately because the booking dates had supposedly not been changed on Booking.com. This occurred despite: • constant communication with the owner about our whereabouts, • the room being available on 26/12 and 27/12 for the owner to accept new bookings, • there being no other guests in the property (we were the only ones), and • the owner not suffering any financial loss. Instead of treating the few tourists willing to visit Jerusalem under the current circumstances with fairness, the owner chose to charge twice. We have been travelling across the Middle East for over a month, and this has never happened to us anywhere else, where hosts consistently acted with good faith and basic decency in similar situations. On top of this, the facilities were poor: the kitchen is very limited, the refrigerator was unplugged, the room is too small for a double bed (room 7), and none of the hot water kettles worked. I would not recommend this place. Future guests should be extremely cautious and ensure that all changes are formally processed through Booking.com, regardless of what the owner agrees to privately.

Amazing location, excellent host, and very clear check-in instructions. The rooms are small but very quiet (perfect for light sleepers). There's a small lounge with a view of the old town, and coffee and tea are available as a nice bonus.

Fantastic location close to the Old City. There’s a a light rail stop close by and the city centre is walkable. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Access is via codes sent to you by the manager. We stayed here twice in rooms 8 and 9. Room 9 was better with a bigger bathroom. We left our luggage here with no problem between stays as we went on a short trip to Jordan.
