About this place Tel Aviv Cinematheque

The Tel Aviv Cinematheque is the city's main art-house cinema and film archive, open since 1973 next to Shaul HaMelech and HaArba'a streets. It runs five screens with a mix of new international releases, retrospectives, Israeli cinema and archive screenings, plus a cafe in the lobby. It is a mainstream cultural venue, not a gay one. It matters to LGBTQ+ visitors because it hosts TLVFest, the Tel Aviv International LGBTQ Film Festival, usually around Pride in June. Many films are in Hebrew or have Hebrew subtitles only, so check the programme for English subtitles before buying tickets. Rabin Square and the Sarona complex are a few minutes' walk away.
