About this place lim tan

Malaysia has two parallel legal systems, and neither is great for LGBTQ+ travelers. The Federal Penal Code §377 carries penalties of up to 20 years in prison plus whipping for same-sex acts. On top of that, state-level Sharia laws (which apply to Muslims) can mean caning, fines, and even more jail time.

You won't often hear about consenting adults being prosecuted in private, but it does happen. More common: raids on LGBTQ+-friendly events and gatherings (several high-profile cases since 2020), public morality enforcement targeting trans women, and anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric from senior politicians. Local LGBTQ+ organizations often censor themselves.

Kuala Lumpur and Penang do have small underground scenes. Think discreet venues, private parties, and dating apps used with extreme caution. Sabah and Sarawak (East Malaysia) are generally more relaxed than the Peninsula states.

If you're visiting: foreign visitors are rarely targeted, but discretion is essential. Don't show affection in public. Use dating apps carefully—police entrapment is a real thing. Stick to international-chain hotels in larger cities. And save contacts for SUARAM and Justice for Sisters, both Malaysian LGBTQ+ rights groups.

Their platform cannot display accurate portfolio holdings. Was advised to go to CDP. Neither broker nor helpdesk could help. Terrible system from the 90s especially when compared to IBKR, Moomoo, and other modern brokers.
