About this place The Eagle

The Eagle is a welcoming gay bar located in Chelsea, offering a laid-back atmosphere that appeals to those looking for genuine local character. As a neighborhood spot rather than a high-energy club venue, it's ideal for travelers seeking a more intimate experience where you can actually have a conversation and get to know other patrons. The venue features a jukebox, allowing you to take control of the music and set the tone for your evening. The friendly atmosphere and chilled vibe make it a great choice for early-evening drinks and socializing. As the night progresses, the space does take on a cruisier tone, so it caters to different moods depending on when you visit. Whether you're looking for a relaxed start to your night out or something with a bit more edge as the evening develops, this bar accommodates both. If you're planning a visit, note that the venue is closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly. Located on K Road, it's positioned as a genuine neighborhood gathering spot rather than a tourist-focused venue, which often means more authentic local connections and a genuine sense of community. It's the kind of place where repeat visitors and locals feel at home, making it a solid choice for travelers who want to experience where queer New Yorkers actually go.

A truly original hotel with a quaint charm. The fact that the windows were drafty (I had to plug the gaps with tissues) and the rest of the furnishings were rather basic... well, you just have to accept that at this end of the world.

Right on the main road. Access through separate door or through the pub. Was just a room and it warmed up quickly - very important at this time of year! Basic kiwi breakfast included. 👍 Separate communal lounge and dining areas. Old pub but was fine for an overnight stay.

The standard single room is really great. The tv in the room is awesome. The room is spacious and comfy, and I especially love the sink in the room, which makes life a lot easier. The location of the hotel is very convenience, lots of parking space just accross from the hotel. I leave my car here while I went to Stewart Island. Only about 3 mins walk to the ferry terminal.
