Daegu, South Korea's fourth-largest city, has a small but genuine gay bar scene. It's a fraction of the size of Seoul's, but the venues here are tight-knit and welcoming, clustered close enough together to make an easy night of bar-hopping.
Where the Scene Is: Daegu's Gay-Bar Alley
Contrary to what many general guides say, Daegu's cluster of gay bars is not in the Dongseongno shopping district but a short distance east, in a small bar alley along Dongbu-ro 28-gil in Sincheon-dong, Dong-gu, directly across from Dongdaegu Station. Several gay bars sit within a couple of blocks of one another there, so once you've found the alley you can move between venues on foot in minutes. Dongseongno, in central Jung-gu, remains the city's main downtown nightlife strip and the route of the annual Pride parade, but for dedicated gay bars the Dongdaegu alley is the real hub.

SO BAR
SO BAR is one of the established gay bars in the Dongbu-ro 28-gil alley, listed in Korean community bar directories. Getting There
The gay-bar alley is a 5-minute walk from Dongdaegu Station on Daegu Metropolitan Subway Line 1 (and the KTX/rail hub). Taxis are cheap and safe, especially late at night — have the address in Korean on your phone to show the driver.
