About the event
Long-Term Care Not Alone - 2026 LGBTQ+ Family Caregiver Support Group Member Recruitment
Are you facing many ununderstood difficulties in caregiving because you haven't come out to your family?
Are you feeling exhausted, wronged, helpless, or lost due to high-pressure caregiving work?
Facing long-term care with no end in sight, do you feel like you have no one to talk to, or worry about becoming a burden to others if you speak up?
Expressing yourself is the best way to relieve stress. The LGBTQ+ Caregiver Group accompanies you, listens to you, and gives you a chance to catch your breath.
We invite you to register for the Hotline's third "Long-Term Care Not Alone" group~
When parents, elders, or partners at home need long-term care, life's rhythm is often disrupted in an instant. As LGBTQ+ individuals, we may be silently expected to be caregivers, but few see the "LGBTQ+" and "caregiver" dual identity we carry, and the loneliness and invisible pressure it brings.
For the LGBTQ+ community, the path of long-term care is also accompanied by unique challenges related to sexual minority status. According to the Executive Yuan's Gender Equality Survey, LGBTQ+ individuals often feel anxious and have negative experiences when signing surgical consent forms, during visitation rights, or communicating with medical personnel due to insufficient gender sensitivity in the social environment and healthcare system. Meanwhile, the Hotline's "LGBTQ+ and Family Care Survey" clearly points out that "coming out" is a core issue in long-term care: among LGBTQ+ caregivers who have not come out at all, as high as 80% worry about conflicts with family due to long-term care, and 70% worry about unequal distribution of care responsibilities. In the past two years of group sessions, we have also seen that insufficient gender sensitivity among professionals or the neglect of diversity in the system continues to put pressure on LGBTQ+ family caregivers.
We understand these challenges. Whether you have come out to your family or not, you deserve to be gently embraced.
The Hotline's Senior LGBTQ+ Group is continuing to host the third cohort of the LGBTQ+ Family Caregiver Group this year! Here, you don't need to hide your identity, you can safely unload your burdens, and share the joys and sorrows, the ups and downs of caregiving with other LGBTQ+ family caregivers. Your sharing will also become an important foundation for the Hotline's advocacy for friendly long-term care policies and training for gender-sensitive long-term care professionals!
We sincerely invite you to make the path of LGBTQ+ family caregiving no longer lonely~
