2026/08/23 (Sun) 2:00 PM 【Story of Time Series Lecture】"Taiwan LGBTQ+ Movement 35" New Book Sharing Session: Does History Not Necessarily Move in a Straight Line? - A Review of the Trajectory of Gay Rights from the History of the LGBTQ+ Movement
In a sharing session about generational differences, members of the Old Gay Group discovered that young gay individuals generally have fragmented information and are unfamiliar with the history of the LGBTQ+ movement. Younger gay friends also expressed the difficulties they face in current society. Coinciding with the publication of "Taiwan LGBTQ+ Movement 35," the Old Gay Group decided to hold a new book discussion session, hoping it can serve as a journey for young readers to understand the history of the LGBTQ+ movement and also become nourishment for the next generation's gender equality movement. In recent years, backlash against LGBTQ+ rights has continued to ferment in various countries, and Taiwan is no exception. For example, recent controversies regarding the military service physical examination standards for transgender individuals also indicate that gender equality may regress. How to survive and resist in the face of backlash waves? This is a problem that the new generation of LGBTQ+ individuals needs to face. As the saying goes, "Using the past as a mirror, one can understand the rise and fall of things." This time, Kafei, who has been at the forefront of the gay movement for decades, will tell the story of the LGBTQ+ movement's historical trajectory, looking at how LGBTQ+ predecessors fought for their rights and living space, and reflecting on how to continue the path of equality in the future. By attending this Story of Time seminar, you will:
☑️ Understand the history of the LGBTQ+ movement and community building
☑️ Get to know middle-aged and elderly LGBTQ+ culture
☑️ See the inseparable development of AIDS and LGBTQ+ issues
☑️ Witness how past LGBTQ+ advocates wrestled with the government and politicians
