Women's Week Provincetown
Über dieses Event
Die Women's Week ist Provincetowns großes Festival für lesbische und queere Frauen, das jedes Jahr im Oktober stattfindet, wenn die Sommergäste abgereist sind. Es begann 1984. Eine Gruppe von Hotelbesitzerinnen, von denen viele Gästehäuser in der Stadt gekauft und restauriert hatten, wollte in der Nebensaison im Herbst die Zimmer füllen. Also schrieben sie frühere Gäste an und luden sie zu einem Clambake am Strand über das Columbus Day-Wochenende ein. Sie nannten es Women's Weekend. Seitdem hat es sich zu einer ganzen Woche entwickelt, und das Programm für 2026 listet über 300 Veranstaltungen auf.
Die Bandbreite ist groß. Es gibt Comedy und Konzerte, Theaterstücke von und über Frauen, einen lokalen Talentwettbewerb, Treffen mit Autorinnen und Schreibworkshops sowie Ausstellungen von Künstlerinnen. Tagsüber gibt es Fußball- und Golfturniere, Walbeobachtungstouren, Dünenfahrten und Wanderungen. Der Auftakt ist der Women's Tea Dance im Provincetown Inn. Die meisten Veranstaltungen sind separat ticketisiert und die beliebten Comedy- und Musikabende sind schnell ausverkauft, also kaufen Sie Tickets, sobald der Zeitplan veröffentlicht ist. Provincetown for Women veröffentlicht den Zeitplan und ist die Anlaufstelle für Aktualisierungen.
Der Oktober ist einfacher als der Sommer. Zimmer sind günstiger und leichter zu finden, und die Stadt ist abgesehen vom Festival selbst ruhiger. Prüfen Sie die Fährverbindungen von Boston, bevor Sie buchen, da der Bootsverkehr im Herbst ausdünnt; ansonsten fahren Sie mit dem Auto oder fliegen Sie mit Cape Air von Boston. Packen Sie Schichten, da die Abende an der Spitze des Cape Mitte Oktober kalt werden.
Die Ausgabe 2026 läuft von Montag, 12. Oktober bis Sonntag, 18. Oktober 2026, wobei einige Veranstaltungen bereits am 9. Oktober beginnen, also findet sie jetzt statt. Zur Veranschaulichung zählte ein Bericht des Provincetown Independent aus dem Jahr 2022 270 Veranstaltungen über zehn Tage. Eine zuverlässige Besucherzahl konnten wir nicht ermitteln. Die Termine für 2027 waren zum Zeitpunkt unserer Überprüfung noch nicht bekannt; sie liegen normalerweise in der Woche des Columbus Day und des Indigenous Peoples' Day Mitte Oktober.
