This huge, all made with brown bricks. This is the Government House Alberta. It is not used often. There is a balustrade. Sometimes the government comes here. There is a garden with it. Very attractive and many flowers. Worthwhile to see!
Take the guided tour. You'll learn much about the history of government house and it's occupants and what it's primarily used for now. Caucus meets here! Great room!
That is now a conference center used by the Alberta Government for meetings, presentations and conference. It has been well maintained and is worth seeing if it is open but I have only been for workshops or conferences. Should be preserved as an historical site as the former home of Alberta's Lt. Governor.
This building should have remained as the lt. govenerns residence not change into a meeting room for government. Once again edmonton, & Alberta fails at holding on to their history.
This building was built as a residence for the Lt. Governor and it should have remained that way . they should have never built the museum there years ago . once again it shows how edmonton and alberta do not care about their past.
There are 3 possible ways that you might see this venue. First, It is used for conferences involving the government. Secondly, it is used by the government as an awards venue. Third, it offers tours. If you are attending the first or second events, you are in for an incredible treat. The staff is absolutely first-class. The food, particularly the desserts, is delicious. There is a coat check. The washrooms are spacious and use cloth towels instead of paper hand-towels or hand-dryer machines. There is plenty of free parking. Government House was adjacent to the city's museum which has been relocated but is likely to be re-purposed. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the views in the surrounding area are gorgeous. A lot of wedding photos are taken in the area because of the views.
This is a great little gem to see which represents a piece of Alberta History that is nicely preserved and restored. There are tours on Sundays and Holidays from what I understand. I happened to be there for a work related workshop on the top floor which contains a larger conference room. There is a small historical display on the Second floor and the building is filled with artwork. There are 4 small A.Y. Jackson paintings which are very neat to see so close up.
Interesting for those who enjoy or value Alberta history and heritage. The visit provides the visitor with rich character of historic architecture and construction while learning of important government meetings held here and significant visitors who have been hosted in meetings and dinners here.
We were invited there on a very special occasion for a good friend of ours. We had a fabulous meal and a great time.
I had my wedding here because there is so much greens and flower beds by the government house. There's also a Korean gazebo over looking the river valley below great for sitting and relaxing. Next to the government house is the Royal Alberta Museum which is another popular attraction of the city.
