Sofitel Chicago Water Tower

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding a personal item that was left in my room closet and the way this matter has been handled by the staff. I am 100% certain that my clothing was left inside the closet of my room prior to checkout. After realizing it was missing, I immediately contacted the hotel for assistance. However, I was informed that nothing had been turned in to Security and that Housekeeping had not reported finding any clothing in the room. What is particularly concerning is that I was told the room is currently occupied by another guest and therefore cannot be checked. While I understand the need to respect guest privacy, simply telling me that “there is nothing we can do” is not an acceptable resolution. Throughout my communications with the hotel, I felt that responsibility was being passed between the Front Desk, Security, and Housekeeping, with no one taking ownership of the issue or making a meaningful effort to investigate. The most I heard was “ sorry, there is nothing we can do”

Perfect stay

The room is nice for this hotel, but the bathroom is TERRIBLE. It has NO locks, and there is no shampoo or bath gel in the room. You also can’t take the bottle from the shower since it’s locked in place. To conclude, this hotel bathroom is missing the most crucial thing ever. Someone in my group just took pictures of me in the bathtub as a joke. I fighted to get the phone to permanently delete those photos. Yeah. Zero privacy whatsoever.

This is our second time staying at the Sofitel Chicago. The hotel is well located, with shops, restaurants, and markets nearby. It's also close to Lake Michigan, perfect for a walk or some sightseeing. The staff was very kind. Everyone, without exception. We had a small problem at check-out regarding the breakfast charge, which was included in the reservation, but it was promptly resolved by the staff.

The hotel is located two blocks from Hancock Tower, right in Magnificent Mile, making it ideally situated for exploring the city. The hotel is very quiet. The rooms are clean and spacious. The restaurant serves good food.

Without doubt it is the best option for river north. The proximity of everything you need is just perfect. Little bit old but well maintained

I am a frequent visitor to this hotel and I have to say this was the absolute worst experience from A hotel that I stayed out more than a dozen times and have always found to be exceptional. I was met very flippantly at the check-in desk and they treated me like I've never been to this hotel or that I've never had suites before in the hotel. They let me know that my room would possibly be ready an hour after it was supposed to be and the only reason I got into the room on time was I asked for the general manager as I don't think they should be treating a guest the way that they welcome to me. When I got into the room, they had to send housekeeping twice because of the stains and dust that were left in the suite. When I asked for a turndown service, they only turned down half the room and had to ask a second time for the room to get turned down to include the pullout in the adjacent room. What took the cake for me was when I had to rush myself to the hospital and asked for a glass of water on the way they took the opportunity to upsell me a $10 bottle of water versus having a little bit of humanity and giving me something on the way to the emergency room. What's worse is, if you look at the negative reviews, the "response" from the hotel simply identifies each issue and apologies; never a phone call or a personal email which I find disappointing to anyone but especially someone who stays there frequently. Would a phone call from the manager hurt? In this case the thought that they wouldn't even refund the $10 water they gave me as I am on the way to the hospital is just arrogant. The arrogance needs to go away and you really just need to do better in a competitive market.
