Sobre este lugar The Sparrow & Serpent

The Sparrow & Serpent is a bar and kitchen at 211 Washington St in the Whiteaker, in the building that used to be Old Nick's Pub. The owner pitches it as a goth, Dungeons & Dragons and queer bar, and since Spectrum closed in 2024 it has become the closest thing Eugene has to a queer bar. Eugene Weekly's Best of Eugene 2025-26 poll named it Best Queer Gathering Spot, and its drag brunch with Maliena won Best Drag Brunch. It's also the home of CHUB, a monthly queer dance party with DJ Enriquedamnit, which has hosted the official Eugene Pride after-party. Other nights bring witchy bingo, goth clothing swaps and touring bands, so the crowd is mixed and alternative. Check Instagram (@sparrowandserpent) for the month's schedule.

In the beginning, I had high hopes for this place, but over the years the owner just seems to fall short of offering the hospitality that would make it a worthwhile watering hole. Long story short, there’s much better venues and food options available elsewhere. I say all this and I haven’t even gotten to the food. Needless to say, the last time I dined there, the food was undercooked and to top it off, there was a long curly hair in the burger. I don’t know who likes random hair in their food, but I for sure don’t. This is not a local business worth supporting.

Passing through town, I had the Halfling's Hash and a cold pressed coffee; it was just what I needed to fuel me for the drive back to Portland.

Dirty and poorly run restaurant, and has a C Health Inspection Rating with the Lane County Health Department.
