Great hotel, friendly, welcoming to dogs, clean.

We had an incredible stay here with our two dogs in one of their massive suites. Service from the front desk was incredible and the room was immaculate. Great place to stay!

Such a fantastic experience. The rooms were so well cared for and our room attendant Jeffery was spectacular! Nick at the front desk made our stay extra enjoyable and took care of so much for us along with the others at the desk Would definitely recommend and stay again. Thanks for a great stay!

Our stay at the Kimpton was completely overshadowed by an unacceptable experience that began the moment we arrived. When we pulled up to the hotel, we parked in an area that the front desk later confirmed was not valet parking and that we were fully permitted to use. Despite this, a man wearing a plain black shirt with no name tag, hotel logo, or other identification immediately approached us and aggressively demanded, "You need to give me your keys now." He never introduced himself, never identified himself as a hotel employee or valet attendant, and never welcomed us to the hotel. Instead, he immediately became confrontational. When I explained that I was not comfortable handing my vehicle keys to an unidentified stranger, he escalated the situation by repeatedly yelling, "Bro, bro, you're not going to disrespect me." We attempted to walk away and continue with check-in, but the harassment did not stop. After checking in, we returned outside to unload our luggage, and he immediately confronted us again. This time, he threatened that if I did not hand over my keys, "there would be consequences." No guest should ever be threatened simply for asking reasonable questions or wanting to verify the identity of someone requesting possession of their vehicle. The front desk staff later confirmed that we had parked in the correct location and acknowledged that this employee's behavior was inappropriate. While I appreciated their honesty, that did not change what had already occurred or the fact that the individual continued to work the front entrance. Unfortunately, the situation only worsened throughout the remainder of our stay. Every time we entered or exited the hotel, this valet employee continued making comments about my group to his coworkers. He would smirk, laugh, and make remarks within earshot of us, often in front of the front desk staff. Rather than feeling welcomed as paying guests, we felt uncomfortable and uneasy every time we walked through the lobby. The hostility that began upon our arrival never truly ended. As an IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite member who spends more than 200 nights each year almost exclusively at IHG properties, I have always chosen IHG because of the professionalism, hospitality, and consistency I have experienced across its brands. Unfortunately, this stay was unlike anything I have ever encountered. In all my years of traveling, I have never felt so disrespected, singled out, isolated, or unwelcome at a hotel. IHG promotes its hotels as places where every guest should feel safe, respected, and valued. That was not my experience at this property. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, I felt that our concerns were dismissed, and the behavior of this employee created an environment where we no longer felt comfortable. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. It has caused me to seriously reconsider my loyalty to IHG after spending hundreds of nights each year with the brand. I hope hotel management and IHG Corporate conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, address the conduct of the employee involved, and ensure that no future guest has to experience the same treatment we did.

The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh is, in many respects, an exceptional property. The building is beautiful, the rooms are thoughtfully designed, and the staff throughout the hotel were professional and welcoming. At first glance, it appears to offer exactly the type of elevated experience one expects when paying premium rates for luxury accommodations. Unfortunately, my stay was overshadowed by an issue that I find completely unacceptable for a hotel operating at this level. On Saturday evening, I intended to enjoy the hotel bar before turning in for the night. The hotel’s posted hours clearly indicated that the bar remained open until 1:00 AM. Yet when I arrived at approximately 11:40 PM—more than an hour before the advertised closing time—I was informed that drink service had already ended. To be clear, my frustration is not about a single cocktail. It is about principle, consistency, and delivering the experience that guests are paying for. When a luxury hotel advertises an amenity as available until a specific time, guests should be able to rely on that information. If drink service is ending substantially earlier, then the posted hours are misleading. What made this particularly disappointing is that this occurred on a Saturday night, arguably one of the busiest and most important nights of the week for hospitality operations. As someone who chose this property specifically because of its reputation and was paying a significant premium to stay here, I expected a level of execution that matched the price point. Luxury hospitality is not defined by marble floors, elegant décor, or attractive marketing materials. It is defined by whether the hotel consistently delivers on the promises it makes to its guests. In this case, it did not. I have stayed in countless hotels where the room itself was less impressive, yet the service standards were far more reliable. Being told that the bar is open until 1:00 AM while effectively shutting down service long before then is not a minor oversight—it reflects a failure to meet basic guest expectations. The unfortunate reality is that guests do not remember the things a hotel gets right nearly as much as they remember the moments when a hotel falls short. I arrived expecting a seamless luxury experience and instead left questioning why I paid luxury prices for amenities that were unavailable when advertised. This is a beautiful hotel with tremendous potential, but management should understand that details matter. If the bar closes at 11:40 PM, then advertise 11:40 PM. If it closes at 1:00 AM, then serve guests until 1:00 AM. The current approach creates unnecessary frustration and undermines what would otherwise be an outstanding property

Great place. Friendly service. Convenient location

A unique hotel. Good location and walking to the convention center isn't too far. The decor is fun and very "birdy" it all reminds me of an aging hipster. The room was comfortable and cozy. I like many of the lamps had dimmers to create a nice mood and convenience lighting at night. Room didn't have enough outlets for 4 guests needs and the bedside birdcage lamp was too big and in the way. Rooftop bar was nice and relaxing, drinks were good but the prices for food both in the restaurant or bar were just a bit too high. We went elsewhere for eating every night.

Located in the heart of Pittsburgh, this hotel is cute and eclectic. We stayed in a similar one in Portland and weren’t disappointed. The rooms are well kept and spacious. There is a rooftop patio and restaurant. The customer service was great and they checked in on you, which was nice. Only feedback is those elevator doors need to be oiled!!! The screeching when they close is horrendous! Also, the backside doors bear the full brunt of the daytime church bells.

Absolutely the best hotel stay in Pittsburgh! Commoner bar is great. Very quiet for being downtown. Will definitely return soon.

Had a quick overnight stay at the Kimpton in downtown Pittsburgh and absolutely love this hotel. It has a funky style to it like most Kimpton's and we also really enjoyed our suite which was large and very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again, this is one of the nicest properties to stay at in downtown Pittsburgh.
