Avoid! Hotel canceled my reservation one week before arrival! I am very disappointed with my experience with Pentahotel Brussels City Centre. I made my reservation back in January, only for the hotel to cancel it just one week before my arrival, citing 'technical reasons' (see the attached screenshot). This situation was incredibly stressful. Instead of enjoying the excitement and preparation for my trip, I had to spend my precious time and energy dealing with this unexpected crisis. It was mentally exhausting and left me scrambling to find alternative accommodation under immense pressure. I cannot recommend this hotel, as they clearly do not value their guests or guarantee their bookings. If you are planning a trip where reliability matters, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.
This hotel is unreliable with reservations. I booked four nights for a concert five months in advance, and five days before (with my plane ticket, bus fare, and concert ticket paid for), they cancelled my reservation claiming technical problems. (I don't believe it because, checking their website for availability, there were rooms available for the first two days, but none for the following two—oh, what a coincidence, precisely on the two days of the concert when hotel prices had tripled.) Clearly, they're in it for the money, and they left me stranded. I had to scramble to find another hotel and pay an extra €500 for a much worse one. And Booking.com offered me €60 more as compensation for the new hotel, even though, as I've already said, the new one is far inferior, adding another €500 to my expenses, not to mention the stress and frustration. You've been warned.
They cancelled my booking for the 30th of June today. Although they didn’t cancel it officially through booking.com, just sent an email so that I had to cancel it. They said there was “technical issues” which I understand they can’t control however not officially cancelling it though the booking method feels slightly off. I had booked it to attend a specific event so have had to scramble around to find alternative accommodation which has resulted in me having to book somewhere 1.5 hours outside of Brussels due to the extortionate prices of trying to book an alternative hotel 6 days before the dates you want to go on & in the middle of BTS concert visitors.
The area is so-so. The metro is about a 10-minute walk away. The hotel is charmingly decorated.
