About this place Havgrím Seaside Hotel 1948

Havgrím Seaside Hotel 1948 is a small boutique hotel in a 1948 house on Yviri við Strond, on the waterfront in Tórshavn. It is a mainstream hotel that is gay-friendly, not a gay venue. Guests rate it 4.4 on Google from under a hundred reviews, which fits a property with few rooms. The Tinganes old town, the harbour and the main shopping streets are within walking distance. Tórshavn is tiny and has no gay bars, but the Faroe Islands legalised same-sex marriage in 2017 and the town holds a small Pride each summer. Book early in July and August, when rooms across the islands run short.

Had a very nice stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Walking distance to the Old Port. Our room was on the ground floor but had large windows facing the harbor (we got lucky). Beds were comfy and the breakfast was nice to have before we headed out for the day (coffee was rocket fuel - wonderful). Shower had good pressure and we were happy! Seems expensive, but don’t come to Faroe if you’re on a budget!

Too expensive. Loud rooms facing the street.

We enjoyed ourselves here. Nice staff. Good breakfast. Great view. Good room with comfortable bed. We were lucky with the weather so one afternoon we could sit out in the garden in the sun. Good location, easy to get to from the ferry (harbor), good parking. Close to the center, just a few minutes walk. Road close but nothing that bothered us, it was still felt peaceful and quiet, the sheep grazed in the pasture right next door.
