About this place Hotel Føroyar

Hotel Føroyar is a turf-roofed hotel on the hillside above Tórshavn, with views over the town and harbour. It's a mainstream gay-friendly hotel, not a gay venue, and it has a 4.3 rating from about 700 Google reviews. The centre is a walk downhill, but coming back up is steep, so many guests use a car or taxi. Same-sex marriage has been legal in the Faroe Islands since 2017. Tórshavn has no gay bars, but it does hold a small Pride in late July.

The rooms were pleasant, and the breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. Unfortunately, the check-in experience left a bad taste in the mouth. The receptionist informed us that our stay had not been paid for (which was untrue). She asked for a credit card to cover 200 kroner (to cover expenses from the in-room bar). A moment later, it turned out that 14,600 kroner had been debited from our account (without informing us). After our intervention, the hotel refunded the money two days later, without refunding the large currency conversion fee. I feel cheated by the hotel. Marcin Nieszkowiecki

Exceptional hotel! We stayed for six days in a studio apartment with a child. Everything is provided for a comfortable stay: kitchenette, refrigerator, kettle, coffee maker, cutlery, dishes... There's plenty of space to settle in: various wardrobes, drawers, and storage. The bathroom is functional and spacious. A large bay window allows you to step out of the bedroom and enjoy the view. As for breakfast, the staff is truly delightful! We loved them. There's a wide selection, but it's also very busy, and it can be difficult to move around. The large parking lot is a real plus; no need to look for a space, there's always one! There's also a laundry room for washing and drying clothes, which is a real plus in the Faroe Islands! In short, we absolutely loved our stay!
