Plage du Grand Travers

Le Grand Travers is the long, undeveloped beach on the coast road between Carnon and La Grande-Motte, about 20 km south-east of Montpellier. misterb&b and Queer in the World list it among the area's gay beaches, alongside Maguelone and L'Espiguette. Most of it is an ordinary public beach, busy with families in July and August, and backed by protected dunes. There are no facilities along much of it, so bring water and shade. Naturism and anything more are not allowed off the designated naturist beaches, so treat it as a regular beach day.
