About the event

[Paris, Paris] Gay Friendly - Queer Friendly - Exhibition - Photographs from the collection of Sir Elton John and David Furnish. Drawn from a collection of over 7,000 works, the images presented are among the most iconic and question the subtle tension between power and vulnerability at the heart of the human experience. Offering a journey through modern and contemporary photography, the exhibition brings together major works by some of the greatest names in the medium, covering the period from the 1950s to the present day. Adapted from the exhibition initially presented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London between May 2024 and January 2025, it is organized around five thematic sections, notably exploring desire, fashion, celebrity figures, and photojournalism. The exhibition features leading artists such as Robert Mapplethorpe, Harley Weir, Irving Penn, Diane Arbus, Ai Weiwei, and Herbert List, and is distinguished by the presence of a monumental installation composed of 149 prints by Nan Goldin from her Thanksgiving series.
