Exhibition opening: "The Eye of the Beholder" by Ekaterina Sisfontes

In The Eye of the Beholder, Ekaterina Sisfontes brings together silver objects, photographs, and digital prints to examine the fragile border between how we present ourselves and who we truly are. The project begins with a simple observation — that our self-image often mirrors the expectations and judgments of the society around us — and expands into a deeper reflection on resemblance, identity, and the subtle ways we shape ourselves to fit into the world.
Across 12 sterling-silver works, Sisfontes isolates specific aspects of the human body — the very features we are encouraged to modify, perfect, or conceal. Weight, surgical interventions, cosmetic adjustments: each piece becomes a distilled symbol of the pressures that shape our outer form. The accompanying photographs and prints extend this inquiry, tracing the uncanny similarities we notice in our partners, our children, even our pets, and asking how much of our appearance is chosen, inherited, or absorbed from the culture that surrounds us.
Presented at PANDA platforma, the exhibition creates a space for viewers to confront their own reflections — not as images in a mirror, but as echoes of social ideals, personal histories, and intimate transformations. Sisfontes’ carefully crafted silver objects act as both artifacts and questions, inviting us to consider where the line is drawn between authenticity and adaptation, between the body we inhabit and the one we construct.
