Paria Moraghebi – I’m resting between your unspoken words

In his documentary film Taze Nafas Ha (The Newcomers, IRN 1979), filmmaker Kianoosh Ayari captures the capital Tehran shortly after the revolution. The soundscape of Tehran is a permanent sensory overload in the film: overlapping street interviews, hyped slogans, dense traffic noise, and so-called revolutionary songs. This sound conveys the psychological and political overwhelm of a society negotiating its identity in the moment of radical change.

Paria Moraghebi understands Taze Nafas Ha as an acoustic archive of a city's collective memory. She collages the film material according to acoustic criteria, supplementing it with interviews and essayistic texts to create a lecture performance.
