About this place Galapagoz

Galapagoz is a relaxed gay cafe and bar in Düsseldorf's City Center, a good spot for LGBTQ+ visitors and locals to hang out. It’s known for its friendly feel, serving Schumacher Alt beer — a Düsseldorf specialty — alongside good lemonades. This isn’t a place for pounding techno and flashing lights; it’s a neighborhood bar where you can actually talk to people. It’s a good starting point for a night out, especially if you’re traveling alone or with a small group. You’ll find Galapagoz in the City Center, one of two areas (the other being Altstadt) where Düsseldorf’s gay scene is concentrated. Sunday afternoons mean Kult Kaffee Klatsch: cheesecake and coffee, a nice, slow way to spend a weekend. Galapagoz is at 68A Klosterstraße; see more at galapagoz.de.

The bouncers do their job well, but the cashiers are very aggressive. Inside the club, you have to constantly restrain yourself from getting caught up in the stress. Groups of young men wait outside the restrooms, looking to start trouble. Overall, the club is very male-oriented and extremely stressful. Avoid it!

Super friendly service and a really pleasant atmosphere. 😊 A big thank you to Emily for her helpful and warm manner; you immediately feel well taken care of. Highly recommended Papagayo! 🌟

What a dump! The bouncers are incredibly aggressive and just break your things, which is outrageous. Drinks are ridiculously overpriced and there are more ice cubes than anything else inside – it's a total rip-off. If you want a seedy place and to feel incredibly uncomfortable, then Papagayo is definitely the place to go. If you're expecting something better, avoid this club.

Orhan is the best guy, he's so nice that I forgot about the club and chatted with him the whole time.

My Indian friend was not accepted into the club. Upon asking the reason why, nobody could point out a good enough reason. Just said: “he’s not admitted into the club”. What a petty and pathetic excuse. Shitty club.
