Cycling: Relaxed Day Tour Elisabethenwörth – Germersheim (Markus Sch.)

Tour description:The tour starts at the Platz der Grundrechte in Karlsruhe and leads via Adenauerring and Grabener Allee through the Hardtwald forest. After crossing the road to Eggenstein, it continues north along the Pfinzentlastungskanal and parallel to the B36.

The way north (via Linkenheim and Liedolsheim):

Past the KHG buildings and the sports fields of SV Linkenheim, the route leads to Linkenheim/Hochstetten. From there, it continues through the center of Liedolsheim and then towards Rußheim.

Altrhein and Elisabethenwörth Island:

In Rußheim, the route passes the church to a forest parking lot on the Rußheimer Altrhein-Elisabethenwörth. Via an Altrhein arm, you reach Elisabethenwörth Island, cross fields and ride on the Rhine dam past a paddler's hut.

Stage destination Germersheim (Palatinate):

After passing under the B35, the Rhine is crossed and Germersheim is reached. The route leads along the fortress wall, to the Rhine bank and past an old brickyard.

Palatinate Rhine side and ferry:

Parallel to the Rhine, the route goes towards Leimersheim, past the Wanderheim Pfälzerwaldverein. After crossing the Fährstraße, the path leads directly to the paid Rhine ferry Leimersheim (with the restaurant kiosk “Rheinblick”) to switch back to the other side of the Rhine.
