About this place Parkhotel 1901 Mannheim

Parkhotel 1901 Mannheim is a mainstream hotel on Friedrichsplatz, the square around the city's Wasserturm water tower and its formal gardens. The name refers to the building's early-20th-century origins. It is listed as gay-friendly; it is not a gay hotel. The location is the main selling point: the Planken shopping street, the Kunsthalle and the Rosengarten congress centre are all a few minutes away on foot, and the main station is a short tram ride. Google reviewers rate it about 4.1 from just under 300 reviews. Check the website for current rooms and rates.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel at all. The only good thing is the location. The hotel itself is run-down. It seems the last renovation took place in 1901. On top of that, it wasn't even clean. Drinks from the minibar had already been opened. There were obvious signs of wear and tear everywhere. The shower gel/shampoo was completely empty. Definitely not recommended!

A historic and impressive building. There were cobwebs inside and out of the upper window. The large breakfast buffet somewhat compensated for the shortcomings of my stay. The location is unbeatable for Mannheim, although the current traffic situation significantly detracts from it. The hotel can't be blamed for that. However, I'm deducting one star because of the overall impression. The view of the water tower, both day and night, is phenomenal and saves the tall building from a 3/5 rating.

The place is falling to pieces. This hotel is perfectly located but the building has been so poorly maintained that there's no redeeming it. The climate control is out in the entire building, the lights in the rooms barely work, and for me the bathroom ended up having water coming through the ceiling from the room above. Everywhere you look there's issues. It could be a truly beautiful hotel, but it needs an investment of millions at this point.

It was cozy 🥰 The room had a balkoni and I saw over to the Whatertower. I didn't had breakfast so I can't give 5 Starts to the Service. The plce is perfect and its in the middel of Mannheim. I can just recomend it.
