About the event

The Landesmuseum Württemberg in the Old Castle Stuttgart invites you to discover cultural history from new perspectives. "More Than One Reality" makes queer stories visible and opens up new viewpoints on familiar historical objects and narratives.
The focus is on the "Legendary Masterpieces" collection with artistic stations, newly prepared historical sources, and other perspectives on regional history. The interventions show that many historical collections have long been shaped by traditional and heteronormative views, while queer realities of life have hardly been told. Familiar objects thus appear in a new light. Personalities such as Charles Woodcock, the long-time lover and close confidant of King Karl of Württemberg, are also made newly visible.
"More Than One Reality" stands for an open, diverse museum and invites you to rediscover history.
A statement from the artists about the exhibition:
We are Alisha Soraya and Ida Liliom, both based in Stuttgart and hustling between art, activism, the independent scene, and institutional friction. Our working and life paths have run parallel and intertwined for almost 10 years through joint queer community work, theater, space design, education, and curatorial processes. And always with the question in mind of how spaces can be opened up or reinvented.
