Unfortunately, we absolutely cannot recommend this hotel. Our stay started with problems. We had to change rooms twice because, according to the hotel, there had been double bookings. Speaking with other guests, we learned that they had also experienced this issue. This simply shouldn't happen in a hotel of this category. There were also ants in the first room. This was another reason why we had to change rooms. Unfortunately, things didn't improve in the next room. Despite complaining twice about the lack of cleanliness, the room wasn't properly cleaned. Among other things, we found black hairs in the room, and even after another cleaning, the cleanliness was still inadequate. The absolute worst part was a cockroach in our room. The reception staff saw it themselves. Since it initially hid and couldn't be removed, the manager was contacted. Her response was essentially that there were no other rooms available and we would have to sleep in this one. No alternative solution was offered at any point. Instead of showing understanding or support, we felt that our concerns were completely irrelevant. The cockroach was only found and removed later. The treatment at reception was particularly disappointing. The employee, Maria, was extremely unfriendly, condescending, and unhelpful. Instead of addressing our concerns, our complaints were simply dismissed. At no point did we feel like we were being taken seriously as guests. Overall, the hotel gives the impression that guest service is unfortunately not a priority. Multiple room changes, ants, a lack of cleanliness despite repeated complaints, a cockroach in the room, and a dismissive "tough luck" attitude towards our complaints—all of this unnecessarily burdened our vacation. While the hotel's location is beautiful, the poor service, lack of cleanliness, and the way guests were treated far outweigh this for us. We will definitely not book this hotel again and unfortunately cannot recommend it. Addendum to our review: After the hotel manager's public response, we unfortunately feel vindicated in our original review. Instead of addressing our criticism professionally, we were personally attacked and belittled. Statements like "I don't care" whether we recommend the hotel, "everyone would lose patience with us," or the concluding remark "Lemons are a real treat for you" speak volumes and are utterly unprofessional for a hotel. The points we described are not fabricated claims, but facts we experienced during our stay: We had to change rooms several times, encountered cleanliness issues, had ants in the room, and finally even a cockroach. The way our complaints were handled also fell far short of what we expect from a hotel. The hotel manager's response, in our view, paints a completely different picture of events and contains statements that do not reflect our experience. The way she publicly attacks guests is exactly how we were treated on-site. Unfortunately, she was not helpful to us as a contact person; in fact, she exacerbated the situation. During our stay, we also observed several other guests complaining at reception about their rooms or other problems. Numerous other online reviews describe similar experiences with the hotel management and the hotel's organizational problems. Anyone who cannot respond to legitimate criticism objectively, but instead personally attacks and humiliates guests, unfortunately confirms the very impression we gained during our stay. For this reason, we still cannot recommend this hotel.
What a fantastic hotel, a lovely spacious pool, and an ideal base for exploring Matala. An extensive breakfast with a different Greek salad every day. The staff is very helpful. We stayed in the newly renovated rooms. They are clean, well-maintained, and spacious. Air conditioning is available for a fee, but the fan provides more than enough cooling. We will definitely be back!!!
There are places in the world where you can let go for a moment, completely unwind, relax, and enjoy yourself. Hotel Elea Terra is one such place, a true oasis in a hectic world. Within walking distance of the paradisiacal Matala, you will find modern and comfortable rooms, a beautiful and large swimming pool, and a delicious and varied breakfast. The service is top-notch and super friendly. In short, highly recommended! Tip: you don't have to pay extra for air conditioning, as there is a large fan hanging above the bed.
I had a wonderful stay with my son and I'm leaving tomorrow. The room was modern, the breakfast was plentiful, and the welcome was warm. The lady at the pool bar was always cheerful. The two gentlemen who cook during the day were very pleasant, and the lady at reception was very kind and spoke French. The pool was very clean, as was the entire hotel. It's a 5-minute walk to Matala beach, restaurants, and shops. We will gladly return. Thank you very much.
The standard rooms are a bit small but still adequate. It's good to know that you have to pay extra for air conditioning. Otherwise, the hotel is great. The location is perfect and the service is available 24/7. It's cleaned every day and the whole hotel is very tidy. The pool is also a great way to cool off in high temperatures, and everyone is welcome to use the inflatable mattresses in the pool.
