A very nice, quiet resort with potential; the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the pool won't open until later, so we couldn't swim. All in all, highly recommended. Breakfast was very good.
Wonderful, secluded little hotel! The team is incredibly dedicated, friendly, and fantastic. Despite minor challenges during our stay with the room and security at night, we were very happy.
Optimal
We booked a suite at Il Santellone Lifestyle Resort and were assigned suite/room 404. The moment we entered the room, we found it in a completely unacceptable condition. There were large numbers of insects inside the room, including flying and crawling ants, what appeared to be cockroaches, and other insects we could not identify. This was not a minor issue or a single insect. The room was visibly affected and, in our view, not suitable for guests. We immediately went back to reception, complained, and asked for another room. Unfortunately, we were told that no other room was available. What made the situation even worse was that the staff told us they were already aware there had been a problem with this room, but assumed everything was fine because housekeeping had not reported anything after cleaning it that day. We were travelling as a couple with our baby. Expecting a family with an infant to stay in a room with insects and cockroaches is absolutely unacceptable, unhygienic, and far below any reasonable standard for a hotel, especially one presenting itself as a lifestyle resort. We refused to stay and asked for the booking to be cancelled, which the hotel did. However, the real issue is not only the insects. The bigger problem is the lack of proper quality control and the fact that a room with a known issue was apparently still handed over to guests. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel at all. Future guests, especially families with children, should check their room very carefully before unpacking or settling in. Room 404 should not have been offered to anyone in that condition.
