San Nicolo Pinewood (Lido)

San Nicolò is at the northern tip of the Lido di Venezia, near the old fort and the airfield. Its pinewood and quieter stretch of beach are reported as a secondary gay and cruising area. It is smaller and less established than Alberoni at the southern end of the Lido, and activity is in the trees, away from the family beach. The Lido is a vaporetto ride from central Venice. Italian law does not target gay people, but public-decency rules apply. Be discreet, keep valuables to a minimum and be careful after dark.
