About this place Praia Maria Luísa

Praia Maria Luísa is a small cove east of Albufeira's old town, past Praia da Oura and Santa Eulália, reached by steps down the cliff. Gay travel guides often name it as Albufeira's informal gay- and nudist-friendly beach, mainly toward its quieter ends. We have not confirmed how busy that scene is today. It is not an official naturist beach, so be discreet with nudity, especially around families. Facilities are limited, so bring water and shade. In July and August the cove gets crowded with regular holidaymakers.

A simply wonderful experience! Food 5 stars, service 5 stars friendly and attentive staff and a very nice environment, with a wonderful view to the beach, perfect to make any dinner even more special. A very special compliment to Chef Luis, not only for excellent food, but also for attention and creativity. When he found out it was a romantic dinner, he thought about improvising a candle with a flower to make our table even more beautiful. A simple but meaningful gesture of those who make all the difference! In addition to being an excellent Chef, he was also creative and attentive to small details. And I can't help but mention Tania, for the enormous sympathy, attention and that contagious smile that welcomed us and accompanied us during dinner. There are people who, just by the genuine and cheerful way they serve us, can make an even more special experience — and Tania is one of them. When good food, excellent service, a wonderful view and the affection for the little details come together, we’re not just having dinner — we’re creating a beautiful memory. Without a doubt, a place to repeat and to recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Stayed in Oceanus Aparthotel, very nice. Daily 4km circular walk - about an hour each lunchtime. Head west out of the hotel reception, turn first left into Caminho do Monte. Follow this route about 1km until it looks like a dead-end, then head down the stepped pathway onto the beach (Praia Maria Luisa). Gorgeous flat beach, sandy with rocky cliffs. Explore here, then head up the exit pathway adjacent to the beach cafe through the big Club Med resort. Come to a crossroads, with a security gate, turn right up to the main road, then about 1.5km back to the hotel. However.... stop off at Vira Milho cafe/bar first for lunch. Absolute perfection!

For those looking for excitement and ballad, do not come to Maria Luiza beach in Albufeira. Now if you (as I am) are going to travel with the family and want a quiet place with sea at a pleasant temperature and with the peace of hearing only the noise of the sea waves and gaivotas, YES, the beach of Maria Luíza is for you.

Great little beach with stunning views. We took our 7 year old niece to this beach yesterday, had a great day playing in the sand (sand castle and football) and exploring the beach. Certainly not a swimming beach for kids on the day we violas the waves were big and powerful, so you have to set boundaries and keep a constant eye on them. The is a beach restaurant & toilets available.

I wouldn't say that this is one of my favourite beaches in Algarve but it's smaller and still beautiful enaugh for a short visit 👍 be careful because you can't access the beach with the car ...

and never too busy. Firm golden sands and if you are lucky as we were, saw a sand artist at work twice. What he did was amazing. You could walk along a cliff top path towards Olhos Agua Doce BUT it stopped just before you get there. Luckily for us, the tide was out and we could descend and walk to that beach. Otherwise you would have to turn back.

Praia Maria Luísa is a pleasant beach and one we have visited before. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility. Vehicle access closer to the beach is restricted, leaving visitors to park at the top of a steep hill and walk down. Although the beach itself is attractive, several other beaches in the Algarve offer much easier and better access.
