Gay-Friendly Hotels in Albufeira
Albufeira is a welcoming, gay-friendly resort, but it does not have gay-exclusive hotels in the way that big cities like Lisbon or Gran Canaria do. Instead, LGBTQ+ travellers are welcomed as a matter of course across the town's wide range of hotels, guesthouses and adults-only properties. Portugal is one of Europe's most LGBTQ+-friendly countries, so same-sex couples can book with confidence.
Where to Stay
Albufeira's dedicated gay nightlife is clustered in the Areias de São João / Montechoro area, along Avenida Sá Carneiro. If being able to walk home from the bars matters to you, look for accommodation in or near that area. That said, the town is compact and easy to get around by taxi or on foot, so a central Old Town or beachfront base also works well — you're never far from anything.

Options range from large beachfront resort hotels and modern town-centre hotels to small guesthouses, hostels and adults-only properties (some clothing-optional). Adults-only hotels tend to offer a quieter, more grown-up atmosphere than the family resorts. Whatever your budget, book well ahead for July and August, when Albufeira reaches capacity.
Getting Around
Faro International Airport is about 45 minutes away by car, taxi or shuttle. Within Albufeira, most beaches, the Old Town and the Sá Carneiro nightlife are a short taxi hop or an easy walk apart, so you don't need to base yourself in one specific spot to enjoy the town.
