Hostel San Marino

The recepcionist charges for sheets and pillow and says it is "normal". I've been staying in hostels for 2 months and a half now and this is the first time i've seen something like this. The room was humid and I couldn't open a window. Other than that everything works fine. Overall my stay was just ok

Well located hostel just by Tavolucci bus stop, which meets Rimini shuttle. Very nice man running the place, does his best to answer any question. Ask him for directions to old town; there's a way up that'll keep you mostly off the dangerous roads, which lack any shoulder. Place has good kitchen, comfortable common area. Limited but enough hot water in showers. Very grateful for this budget option in San Marino, which can be pricey. Manageable negatives: Freezing cold at night in dorm. It was warm just outside in hallway, so I don't know what the secret is to getting that into the room. Also, would be nice, more efficient, to have male dorm and let the guys use the three-shower room, rather than letting women lock it for one. Make one of the en suites the female dorm. Odd to pay extra for linens; just add to price. No outlets in dorm, but understandable in old building.

This being the only hostel in San Marino, I found it perfectly satisfactory for my needs. It’s down the mountain from the historic centro, but there is a grocery store in the next building over, which is very convenient. I’m sure I stayed in the off season, and it was quiet, reminding me of Jude Law’s observations at the beginning of The Grand Budapest Hotel. They allowed me to check in early, for which I was grateful, and my sheets were clean and room full of sunlight. I was a little anguished at not finding a corkscrew that evening, but I made do. They are otherwise rather well-equipped.

Budget accommodation close to attractions.

BED BUGS! I even moved rooms and there were bed bugs there too. Management did not care at all. Didn’t even want to give me a new room. DO NOT STAY!

It serves its purpose as a hostel for what it is. The location is fairly convenient for the funicular. A little dated; they could use some more improvements.
