Belgrade Pride
About This Event
Belgrade Pride (Beograd Prajd) is Serbia's main Pride. It is a week of exhibitions, talks, theatre and parties that ends in a protest walk through central Belgrade, organised by the Belgrade Pride association. The walk is a political march that takes place inside a police cordon, and you should go expecting that.
The history is rough. The first attempt, in 2001, ended when far-right and football-fan groups attacked and beat participants. The 2010 march went ahead under heavy police protection while rioters fought police across the city. The walks from 2011 to 2013 were banned, and the march has been held every year since 2014. In 2022, when Belgrade hosted EuroPride, the police banned the walk. At the last minute it was allowed on a route only a few hundred metres long.
The 2026 Pride week ran from 31 August to 6 September under the slogan "Ima mesta za sve nas" ("There is room for all of us"), the same words used in 2001. Radio Free Europe reported that on 5 September several thousand people gathered in Manjež park and walked past the government, presidency and parliament, surrounded by police. In a churchyard along the route, a group shouted insults and held up a portrait of Ratko Mladić. The organisers said none of their eight demands had been met, including laws on same-sex unions and gender identity. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.

Practical Tips
Pride Week programming runs Aug 31 to Sept 6 — check prajd.rs for panels, film screenings and concerts on the days around the march.
The march assembles at Manjež Park and finishes there with a concert — arrive an hour early since police cordons close nearby streets.
Expect a heavy police presence and counter-protest zones; keep your route to and from the park along main streets.
