Playaflor Chill-Out Resort

We were booked to stay there but towards the end of October they said they could not accommodate us and would send us to an apartment in Los Cristianos which is a completely different resort! We refused and are currently trying to get our money back so be warned!

Never written a review before as fully aware that people choose destinations for their own preferences, standards and budget but had to share this dreadful experience Booked a “good value”deal through on the beach arrived a little early , on first impression apartments surroundings felt quite quaint , we waited about half an hour for the room to be cleaned and finished, which was fine...check in was smooth From the moment of opening the dodgy door which looked like it had been forced a few times we really should have just left there and then , however we are optimistic people so stepped inside 😩 First observations ..The sofa was ripped , fridge rusty , light fittings dangerous, we took the stairs which were a little bit tight but just about negotiable, the bedroom and bathroom were in no better condition with electrical hazards, hole in the door, cracked floor tiles more dangerous steps to the terrace .. the water feed tank had seen better days together with the pagoda, furniture and wall plaster. Still trying to remain positive we dropped our bags and went for a walk and a drink and decided to give it a go , after all we hadn’t planned to stay in the accommodation other than to rest our heads first thing in the morning I checked us into a hotel across the road ,handed the keys back and checked out .. the staff member asked me why to which I replied it wasn’t to our standards.. he said why didn’t you say so .. to which I answered all of the rooms are exactly the same He shrugged his shoulders took the keys and said “bye “ The room condition really was disgusting,

Arrived at the resort with an open ind after some of the reviews. We absolutely loved it! The rooms are quirky and decorated individually. Loved the lounge area as plenty of room to get ready have a drink etc. The bedrooms are upstairs so clothes ect are all out of the way. The pool was lovely and warm and we managed to get sunbeds but can see this being an issue in the main summer months are the pool area is quite small and only a few beds available. The thing we loved most was the location. We were in the middle of everythng. If we wanted the beach it was 5 mins away, restaurant 2 mins away. Nightlife on our doorstep! Will definitely be back here again.

Utterly disappointed. Not because of the lack of air con, but because of the lack of men. Was hoping for some holiday romance but we were the only men there. Me and my pal coley had to play who’s sick first loses and we could have just done that at home. Please please please don’t advertise as a gay resort if you can’t live up to the name. However the sofa bed was so comfy I’m hoping to ship one back home.

I have stayed at many places in and around the area of Playa de las Americas/Costa Adeje over the last 25+ years, mostly we prefer to be either near the Mare Nostrum strip or the opposite end of the resort in San Eugenio or Torviscas. My days of clubbing are a thing of the past and generally I only walk through the Veronicas area to get from one end of town to the other, even then I prefer to walk the beachfront as this avoids the hassle of touts and props outside bars and clubs. The location of this complex is directly on the road in the thick of late night bar/club scene of Veronicas. This makes it a plus for anyone who likes to party and stagger not far to get back to bed. It probably should not be considered if you prefer peace and quiet at night. I am aware if this, but this complex was "reserved" by my other half at a rate that seemed agreeable for the time of year (New Years Eve). This allowed some time to look for other options however he fell short and actually hit the reserve/pay now function and this was non-refundable so essentially we were locked into this hotel. Ideally I would not have booked this place, it just doesn't fit our holiday requirement so to speak, however a few years ago I had visited the complex during the day and management even allowed us to view one of the I want to say town houses, as they really arent apartments. At that time the complex was marketed as gay friendly and had a very nice terrace bar overlooking the street, a small pool. A bit if money had been spent to make the rooms more attractive and the terraces adorned with pots, plants, seating with a very Moroccan/Arab feel. Having remembered this visit I was optimistic we could enjoy a stay there despite the clubs outside provided we were not in a frontline apartment/house. We arrived on Sunday the 29th of December a little after 9pm by taxi. The gate at street level was locked, we pressed the buzzer, no one came, a number is also provided and after calling the security guard came and let us in. There is no lift to the main level so this place should be disregarded if you have mobility issues. We were checked in very quickly and passport details taken before being shown to our apartment which was on the front line of the complex overlooking the street. There is no private terrace or balcony off the lounge, you will have a table and chairs set aside on the walkway outside, the layout of the complex means some people would be seated directly in front of a neighbour, ours wasnt, but the two next door faced each other and wasn't private at all. The lounge gad a large black leather sofa (ours was ripped), a coffee table, a large tv unit with a 48" LCD tv. We only found English news channels. Under the stairs was a mop, bucket and brush. In the far corner of the room in a very awkward corner was a tired and dated kitchenette. It was almost triangular, with the sink set into the corner, which was hard to use and was recessed, the shape of the units meaning you had to stoop over quite far. There was a two ring ceramic hot plate, toaster, coffee maker and a fridge with small freezer section. This was really the only thing we used. Getting in and out of the kitchen meant having to squeeze between the sofa and a narrow breakfast bar which had stools. It felt quite stark and a bit sad, but it was clean despite showing its age. A very narrow staircase lead up to the bedroom which had a window (which didn't lock shut) directly overlooking the patio door, walkway and street below. The bedroom and indeed the whole apartment are irregular in shape. We had two single beds. The frames were metal, cumbersome and bulky. I think the nature of the staircase meant a normal bed might not have been able to reach the bedroom so they had these really weird sectional metal bedframes that seemed adjust able. Be careful as you often knocked into them negotiating the room. We used a fan in the room at night, but the only plugs were at the bedside and the lead from the fan wasn't very long, so it was near enough in my face. The wardrobe came with a few tatty hangers and a safety deposit box. There was no drawer space, just a shelf and two very small bed side cabinets. Another narrow staircase lead directly from the bedroom to a private terrace on the roof. From here we had a good view of the sea and street which was a bonus. On the roof were two plastic sun loungers and two coarse black felt mattresses, but they were literally about 1cm thick and added nothing. The table and chairs were stained and one of the legs of the table fell off if it was moved. A piece if wire was a clothes line. Back on the bedroom level is the bathroom which again was a very unusual shape and lots of negotiation with the toilet and moving the shower screen to access the taps. It was white, bland and tired though clean. The towels we were provided did the job and were changed during our stay, but some of these need replaced. Overall it didn't leave me feeling entir

playa flor is a wonderful hotel. in the centre of the strip, we never got bored. we could walk anywhere - one special place we walked to twice was siam park, the greatest place on earth. the friendliest lookie lookies around, we would never have been able to get into the hotel without him. playa flor so good

After reading previous reviews I asked at reception if our room was at the front or at the quieter rear of the hotel complex. I was told the front. If I had requested a quieter room when booking they would have done their best to allocate one. They did not have a spare room but said they could move us the next day. I felt this to be fair. When we got to the room which was at the very front, we found that we had amazing views of the sea. Because of this, we decided not to move. It was very noisy at night, as expected, but we managed to sleep, just not very well! The accommodation is quirky. No room is square. Nice to have a lounge and kitchen on the ground floor and bedroom and bathroom on the next floor. The top floor had a good sized terrace which was quite discreet. The loungers on the terrace had black foam covers to make them more comfortable but these were old and black bits came away onto your skin. The layout of the bedroom was not good. Very tight to move between the bed and the stairs. The strange shape of the bathroom gave little room to squeeze past when the basin was already in use. The lovely pictures of the colour changing shower heads that you may have seen is not the same in reality, unless you want to shower in the dark! The accommodation was clean but looked very tired. The main issue with the accommodation was the lack of power sockets available. In the lounge there was just one. Another single socket in the kitchen. The bedroom also only had one socket, and if you wanted to use it, the bedside lamp needed to be unplugged. There was a fan provided in the bedroom, but to use it would have meant plugging into this one socket. Not ideal when you have phones and tablets to recharge. If you want to use the safe in the bedroom, it costs €3 a day plus a deposit of €10. I always think it is bad to have to pay extra for a safe. We were disappointed to find the poolside bar shut for all of our stay. No drinks or snacks available, except from a vending machine, if you wanted to spend time at the pool. The pool isn’t massive, but is a reasonable size and is deep enough. It was in shade in the morning but ok for most of the day. The internet at the hotel was terrible. We managed to connect just once during our stay of 6 nights. When reporting the issue, we just got excuses. Too many guests using it including previous guests outside the hotel! (Change the password then!) Another time, they were waiting for a technician. This is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for. I found the staff to be mostly friendly. I wasn’t happy when the cleaner knocked on the door. I asked for 5 minutes as we were getting ready. The response was “no”. It does have an excellent location to explore the area. It is very close to the beach with many bars and restaurants. I guess that it would be ideal if you intend to go to the clubs until they close around 4am. Otherwise, go somewhere else!

Our Hotel (Playa la Flor Chill out) was directly on the strip as we anticipated. The Second but last day towards the end of our Holiday we came in from the Veronicas strip and were met by Security who allowed us and Two of our Friends who were not staying at the Hotel go in the Swimming Pool aslong as he stayed near, We assumed this was to prevent us being too loud or distrusting our Neighbours. Whilst in the pool he recited is on his mobile phone while asking us to also Jump in repeatedly. Being a Group of Young girls aged 18-25 we decided to head back into our apartment as we deemed the situation uncomfortable and unsafe. We decided to head up to the 3rd floor of our apartment for a Cigarette and a chat (this is allowed) so we locked the double glass door and headed upstairs.during which we heard the apartment door slam shut. As it was Early hours in the Morning we were a bit shaken up and heading down Two flights of stairs to see what was going on. No one was in sight so we re locked the door and we all headed back upstairs. A few moments later we decided to go out for something to eat around the corner only to find our bags had been searched through and all of our Cash was gone totalling €140.00. We Immediately found the same security guard from early that night and explained the situation he didn’t seem surprised he spoke very little English but said we would ring the police as it wasn’t his fault or problem, he failed to ring the police and continued to verbally abuse us. 2 Hours later after realising no phone call had been made we rang them ourselves and they came straight away. The Security guard was no where to be seen. As the complex had a Tall metal gate that only ourselves, Neighbours ,Staff and Security could open they decided it was very likely that it was somebody at the hotel who could access our room. As we had been dealing with the security guard for such a long time after him giving us abuse and being rude to us we decided to leave it until the morning and take it to the reception. The morning came and as soon as we woke up we headed to the reception desk where we were shown CCTV of the Security Guard lingering around our Apartment for at least an Hour after we left the pool. The Hotel denied that it was the security guard as the man pictured had Black Shorts on (which he was wearing whilst watching us in the pool) and there Security Uniform was long black Trousers. Luckily one of our friends had photographed the Security Guard as he was acting suspicious. The receptionist then went on to say we could get in trouble for taking photos of him instead of addressing the fact it was indeed him that had let him self into our apartment. The refused to do anything about the matter and were incredibly rude about it. We didn’t feel safe staying in the complex for the remainder of our Holiday and stayed with friends further up the Island. We recieved No apology and no advice on how to take this up further with the authority’s .

I stayed here recently and found it great value for money staff are friendly very accommodating, yes the room was warm could do with another fan, really good location to be in close to water parks, clubs , restaurants over all had a really good experience here

Very nice place, chilled and no problems and very accommodating to me and my friends who visited. Only thing is the heat probably need another fan in the room other than that no problems. Such good value for money and don’t let the noise complaints put you off I had no issues with it, I stayed in 13 and it was right beside the pool fantastic.
