About this place Gio

Gio, a German-owned gay cafe on the ground floor of Gran Canaria's Yumbo complex, is where you go for a quiet drink before the clubs get going. It's a laid-back place. You'll see people catching up over coffee or something stronger, enjoying the relaxed European vibe it brings to the island. Think low-key, not high-energy. The big draw is its terrace. It's a comfortable outdoor space, perfect for people-watching or lingering over a conversation without feeling rushed. This is where you settle in, take your time, and just soak up the atmosphere. Gran Canaria has plenty of gay venues, but a spot like Gio is a good entry point if you're new to the island or just want a mellow start to your evening. It’s unpretentious, inclusive, and a safe spot to just be yourself. You can find more details on their website.

Sitting for a half an hour waiting for bruschetta to arrive. I don’t know if the food is good or not, it’s so so so so so so so slooooooooow. The restaurant is only 1/4 full. The food is extremely good though. Just very slow to come out

Disappointment last night after several previous visits to this "mixed appetizers" platter (number 31), which was excellent (the salami was barely fresh). Last visit, what a shame!

Bad experience. The waiter probably thought we were tourists. We live and work here. The worst service I've ever seen. It took 20 minutes to order drinks, another 20 minutes for dinner, and on top of that, it was tuna tartare with cold fries. Seriously. Some restaurants in Jumbo need to hire waiters who know their jobs... pathetic.

Have you ever gone to a place and thought the menu looked good enough to sit and eat? Well, this place blew my mind with everything- service, delivery of beverages with incredibly, fresh ingredients to elevate your experience, and the quality of food made Gios stand out to me. I would highly recommend their bread appetizers and their sampler platter. Many thanks to the bartender for incredible service and for the cocktails that were clearly made from the heart. GO. HERE!

Gio has become really good over the last few years: beautiful location, friendly staff, very good prices, and I had a delicious meal there.
