Sitges’s gay bar scene is compact. You won't find many places like it. All the main bars sit within a few streets in the old town, ten minutes' walk from each other. On a summer night, this area is openly gay and loud. Bars spill into the street, people move between them freely, and the whole circuit feels like one big party, not a bunch of separate venues.
The old town circuit
The bars cluster around Carrer del Pecado and nearby streets. This has been the heart of the scene for decades. You don't really need a plan here; just walk the streets and pick a spot based on what looks good that night. The vibe changes from place to place: some bars are younger and louder, others pull a more mixed crowd, and a few feel like local spots that just happen to be gay.
Streets are narrow, and where there's room, bars have outdoor seating. In summer, most of the socializing happens outside. People drink on the street between bars, stop to chat, and drift from one place to another over hours. This kind of scene works because the tight geography forces everyone together.
A Sitges night, timed
Sitges runs on Spanish time, which is later than most Northern European visitors expect. People start showing up at bars around 10pm or 11pm. The busiest hours are midnight to 3am. Some places stay open later, especially in summer, but many bars close by 3am or 4am. If you want a very late night, the town's clubs keep going, but the bar circuit itself winds down before morning.
Earlier in the evening, from about 8pm, a few bars open for pre-dinner drinks. The terraces along the seafront serve food and drinks in a more relaxed setting. The shift from dinner to bars to later-night spots follows the same rhythm as mainland Spain: slow to start, late to finish.
Carnival and summer
Bars are at their most intense during Carnival and in July and August. For Carnival, the old town streets are packed for parades and parties; bars stay open as long as there's a crowd and many host their own events. In summer, it’s a similar energy but more consistent: busy every night, instead of Carnival week's concentrated madness.
Off-season, things are quieter but not dead. A core of bars stays open all year for the local gay population. These places usually feel more local than their tourist-season versions.
The bars
- — Drag queens from Barcelona perform here every night with different themed parties. Expect drink discounts and a fun crowd.
- Bar Azul — A small gay bar with a daily happy hour every summer. It's a good spot and offers solid value.
- Barcode Sitges — Known for its mix of classic and new music videos.
- Bears Bar — An attitude-free gay bar for bears, cubs, chubbies, and their admirers. It has videos and two darkrooms.
- Bukkake Cruise Bar — The only gay cruise bar in Sitges by the Parrots group. Bukkake is one of Sitges' busiest cruise bars, with a large cruising area, sling, showers, and lockers. You can grab a drink at the front or head to the cavernous maze for fun. It's in the heart of the gay village.
- — A large sex cruise club with slings, mazes, a DJ, and a bar. Lockers are available for guests to store valuables and clothing.
- Carousel Terrace Bar — Located in two of the busiest gay areas. A good place to start the night with a cocktail on the large outdoor terrace.
- Central Bar Café — This bar café serves coffee, cocktails, and homemade cakes, which you can enjoy on their terrace.
- Comodin — The longest-running gay bar in Sitges, known for its drag acts.
- Dark Sitges Bar — A trendy bar, open for six years, known for its porn shows. It has a large dark room and cruising area.
- — An Amsterdam-style gay cruise bar, open all year round from 5:30 pm. It has a small darkroom and an Underwear Night every Tuesday. During summer, it's open daily from early evening. Check their Facebook page for off-season hours.
- El Piano — A popular, friendly, attitude-free gay bar with live music and cabaret.
- Incognito — A café by day, bar by night. It has an open terrace and free Wi-Fi.
- La Locacola — A small bar in Sitges.
- La Villa Sitges — A stylish bar with a garden terrace. They have a wide selection of beers and cocktails.
- Mojito & Co — Mojito & Co has a cool terrace bar and claims to serve the best mojito. They have a range of cocktails.
- — The Sitges foam party happens annually, drawing people from all over. This year, it's at the newly designed Organic Dance Club with a purpose-built sunken dancefloor. You can dive into the foam or just watch. A cloakroom is available for valuables; oil is provided.
- — A gay bar with a popular terrace, especially late afternoon. It's a good spot to watch people coming off the beach or meet up with last night's acquaintances.
- Prinz — Prinz plays good music and has strip and drag shows. It's in Sitges old town, near Bar 7, with a mixed clientele. Special shows with drag acts and strippers run during summer.
- Privilege — A fashionable gay bar playing popular dance and house music from London and Ibiza. Happy Hour is from 11 pm to 1 am. They host different theme parties daily.
Practical notes
