Innovative menu with a calm and tasteful decor. Still one my favourite restaurants and worthy of more recognition.

The food was tasty and nicely presented.

Special place in the Jewellery Quarter. Really delicious food, fantastic service, great atmosphere. Looking forward to many more visits.

One of the best restaurants in Birmingham.

I recently had a business meeting in Folium. I parked in the NCP that's just around the corner from St Paul's Square as the roadside parking is limited to 2 hours. Upon entry we were able to leave our coats on pegs by the door. We were greeted by a kind lady whom showed us to our table, in the window. Before eating and drinking we were handed a face and hand cloth, which I thought was a nice touch. We at the 5 course lunch menu, which was very tasty. Just before we were served our puddings we were asked if we wanted the cheese board, which we did. Being honest, if we never had this, I would have left the restaurant still hungry. We were seated for around 2.5-3 hours and overall it was pleasant experience. There was a few empty tables and it was easy to talk.

The whole experience was wonderful. We were greatly warmly & shown to our table. The ambience was lovely, everything being thought out including the crockery & cutlery, to give a quality experience. The service was friendly & attentive, meeting all our needs. We had the "short" 5 course menu & every course was delicious. My partner is pescetarian, which was accommodated without any issue. We'll certainly be back again, thank you for a delightful evening.

Ah, the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. Brick softened by soot, ambition quiet but proud. It was here, under steel-colored skies, that my newly redheaded ex-wife and I wandered in search of dinner and delight. She, reborn in fiery Czech red, walked beside me like a woman who has survived both matrimony and reinvention. Against the industrial calm, she looked improbably radiant, a heroine misplaced among silversmiths. We had not booked. Folium, once a financial printers and decades ago my first client, now welcomes wanderers with quiet assurance. Where ink once met paper, flame now meets protein, balancing acidity as elegantly as numbers were once balanced. The short menu, paired with wine, offered restrained luxury. The poached egg was a quiet dare, tremulous and perfect, alongside sharp sauerkraut, crisp chicken skin, and delicate textures. Paired Austrian Grüner brought sunshine. Then lamb, cooked to the precise blushing point where tenderness yields but integrity remains. Its flavours unfolded with intelligence and warmth. Sourdough was alive—crust crackling, crumb fragrant, noble in its sourness. Dark Cahors beside lamb, Muscat d Asti lifting dessert with gentle sweetness. And the apple dessert: hay-infused cream, tasting of late summer fields. My red head paused mid-spoonful, eyebrows raised, delight evident. Service was assured, warm, and knowing. The room hums rather than shouts. As someone immersed in hospitality branding, I am hard to impress. Here, coherence ruled: vision carried through flavour, service, and atmosphere. We lingered. For hours, only the present existed, shared by two people with a long history, united by a meal that commanded attention and rewarded it. Folium is more than a restaurant. It is care, craft, and the rediscovery of why we go out to eat. Go. Take someone with history. Order the short menu. Then return for the long. And if you find yourself savoring hay in cream while marveling at a poached egg, know you have stumbled into something quietly extraordinary. John

Beautiful anniversary meal. Food was pristine along with the wine pairing. Favourite of our meal was the cherry blossom and rhubarb dessert. We opted for the long menu with the cheese selection, everything came out in satisfying portions that left us full at the end. The pace of meals served was just right.

A really well curated menu and a fantastic high end dining experience. You get what you pay for with extremely well thought out dishes with top quality ingredients.

One of the best tasting menus we’ve ever had. Amazing flavours, presentation and service from start to finish. Wonderful atmosphere, without being too stuffy. Also an excellent and very well thought out wine pairing. Great value for such an extraordinary experience. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend
