What reviewers say

Visitors frequently praise the show for its high energy, fantastic performances, and great atmosphere, with many calling it the best entertainment they've experienced. However, some reviewers note that the venue itself is in need of updating and has an old smell, and a few recent visitors felt the show had declined with staff changes.

About this place Funny Girls

Funny Girls is Blackpool's drag cabaret institution. It opened in 1994 on Queen Street and moved in 2002 into the former Odeon at 5 Dickson Road, a Grade II-listed 1939 Art Deco cinema two minutes from Blackpool North station. The format is a seated show night: a resident cast of drag performers runs song, comedy and audience routines while the bar stays open. Oscars Lounge, the smaller bar inside the same building, is where people drink before and after the show. The crowd is mostly hen parties, birthday groups and coach trips, with gay regulars mixed in, so treat it as a gay-run show rather than a gay bar. Weekend tables sell out; book through funnygirlsshow.co.uk. The venue was sold in 2026 when founder Basil Newby retired, and shows are listed into 2027.

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!!! Funny girls, Blackpool, you have upped your game...AND SOME!!! Me and my besties have always had a fantastic time and have been for the past 3 years now around my birthday. Pros and cons: Always booked in for the meal beforehand which in all fairness was great for the price we paid. HOWEVER, Friday this past week was EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD FOOD!!! Well done to the new chef and the supporting staff!! Such a difference! THE SHOW!!!! AMAZING!!!!! Took note of all of the changes and they work soooo well!!! MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS FUNNY GIRLS!! YOU'VE NAILED IT!!! See you next summer!!! Kim and Aggie xxxxxx

Went to Blackpool to see friends and we booked to see the show on Friday night and was not disappointed. From start to finish we all laughed and sang the songs, the artist's are so brilliant and keep the audience engaged. The host was brilliant with great music and humour. If you want a great night out definitely book to see #funnygirls

Went here for dinner and the show. Dinner was disappointing, we both ordered the salmon. Which was so incredibly salty we both couldn't eat it. The waiter apologised and we changed it for the hunters chicken, this was better but not great. The show on the other hand was fantastic, DJ Carmen as always was brilliant she recognised us from our previous visits and came over to talk to us which was lovely. Nice improvement of the bar area stage and seating area around it, much better idea.
