About this place Mousehold Heath (Gurney Road)

Mousehold Heath is a large area of open heath and woodland on the north-east edge of Norwich, and the car park and paths off Gurney Road have long been one of the city's best-known outdoor gay cruising spots, documented across multiple cruising guides. Activity is informal and typically picks up from early evening into the night. Safety first: this is public parkland, so be discreet and respectful of other users, stick to areas you can leave easily, let someone know where you are, and remember that while same-sex activity is legal in the UK, public-place laws still apply. Bring a phone and a light after dark.

So many paths to choose from! It was lovely to just wander and explore. Lots of space for dogs to burn off some energy (and also lots of good sniffs!).

It is a lovely spot, feally needed as a green lung as Norwich has one of the UKs densest populations. Sadly like any patch of grass in Norwich, it is in fact a dog latrine, dogs off leads & out of control, frightening to little kids. Why do city dwellers keep dogs its animal cruelty?

We live a few minute walk down the road from Mousehold and it’s easily one of our favorite open spaces around to get out and stretch our legs. The park span two sides of a busy throughway, and has parking at at least three different area along it. The eastern half has a pitch and putt golf course which is pretty cool, as well as a nice gazebo and large ball field... along with the standard varied terrain of trails and bike paths. The western half houses Zak’s American Diner, multiple open fields, a small pond, loads of tree swings and dens for the kids to play on. Very popular with dog walkers, runners, cyclists and families of all ages. If you’re in the area, give it a go, and if you live nearby, well you already know how great of a space this is.

Mousehold heath looks down on the city of Norwich and has great views of the Norwich cathedral and city.Mousehold covers a huge area and has a pitch and putt coarse,a football pitch and loads of walks and is great for mountain biking. There is ample parking and with the old Anglian Regiment barracks behind you ,this is a great place for a day out.

Had a visit to Mousehold on a beautiful sunny Monday evening late July with the family and grandchildren. The children loved the walk up and down the hills as did the dogs in the shade. See a hedgehog walking around and walked past the golf course and back to the Fountain football pitch for a kick about to bring back memories from my playing days many years ago on my home pitch. Great evening out so close to home we are so lucky to have something to walk around and enjoy locally.

We played football golf. Make sure you check times as it’s not on every day and only starts at 3. Could be a little awkward when us busy as you play on same course as pitch and putters. Also not really easy to find as it’s on the heath so be prepared to park and walk . Beautiful heathland and we really had fun as it’s something different to do in lovely surroundings

Lovely well kept 18 hole pitch and putt course surrounded by lovely countryside. Also went to the bandstand Sunday to hear Taverham band. The Heath is great for walks and loved the earthy smells after the rain.
